It’s been nearly two months now since Lee and I reconciled. We went back to going on dates every Saturday. Sometimes, she agrees to spend Sunday at my house. I ask Cara to bring the kids. I noticed Lee likes to play with them. She’s like a carefree child herself. I’m old enough to know I can’t play with them, but she taunts me enough that sometimes I would agree. She asked for my age one time and I kept her guessing. Though her first guess was actually on point. Thirty-three. She’s twenty-seven, she said. When I asked how she knew, she only shrugged.
When I visited her one Saturday, I asked her if she could be my date on a social event I was invited to. I usually go alone, but this time, I thought I should bring her with me. If only to be with me for a longer period of time.
“I’m pretty sure I don’t have the right clothes for that. I don’t own a dress.”
“I’ll help you find a dress. We could shop this afternoon. Please say yes.” I begged. I really want to show her off. She reluctantly agreed.
“I want a black dress, and flat shoes.” She stated as soon as we walked in at the shopping center.
“I’m sure you can handle two inches of heels.” I looked down at her feet. An additional height would make her more gorgeous. Of course, I won’t tell her that. She’s perfect to me.
She really let me choose everything for her. Now, the tricky part.
“Would you like to go for a massage? Prep up your hair and nails.”
She only stared at me like I spoke alien. Then, I remembered that she probably hasn’t gone to a spa and salon after her accident that rendered her without memory.
So, we went together. I had Charles bring me the tux I’m going to wear so we can change into our clothes at the salon.
I was mesmerized when she walked out of the dressing room.
“You look beautiful.” I praised lightly. She only gave me a small smile.
“You look better.” She replied, touching the bow tie and straightening it.
“Shall we go?”
“Is it time to go?” I nodded as I guided her hand on my arm.
