I tried to finish off the rest of my shift without too much attention, but after seeing that performance, the manager wanted me to stay up on the stage. But I refused to. I went back behind the bar to keep working like I usually did and the Alpha wasn’t insisting that I danced for him again. He seemed pretty satisfied with the one dance.
But the whole night I was serving drinks I was getting pretty big tips from all of the guys in the club. So I guess it didn’t turn out to be such a bad thing afterall.
The club closed really late and I had to stay back and help clean up before I could changed and I got back into my normal clothes and I headed out the back door.
I pulled out a cigarette and I was looking around my bag to try and find my lighter when I bumped into something really hard.
It made me a little unsteady on my feet, but then I felt strong hands grab my arms to stop me from falling and I looked up to see the Alpha standing there.
“You again.” I said.
“I have to say. You were pretty impressive in there.” He said.
“What do you want?” I asked.
“I’m just trying to figure out who the hell you are.” He said, looking me up and down. “Last night your name tag said Fiona and tonight it’s Rose.” He added.
“Everyone who works at a strip club uses a fake name. You should know that. You seemed pretty comfortable in there. I doubt it was your first time going to one.” I said.
“Who are you, really?” He asked.
“That’s none of your business.” I said.
“Which pack are you from?” He asked. I started looking around to see if there was anyone else hanging around, but the car park was dead. There were no cars, no people. Nothing.
“Just leave me alone.” I said.
“I can’t do that. You know that I am going to find out anyway. Alpha’s have a way of finding these things out.” He said.
“Are you threatening me?” I asked.
“Of course not. I just want to know where you belong.” He said.
“Well, I already told you. That’s none of your damn business. Now stay the hell away from me.” I said, pushing past him and walking out of the car park.
I knew that I couldn’t afford to wait for the train right now, so I ran all the way home.
Werewolf stamina was great for situations like this.
As soon as I got there, I threw my bag onto the couch and I ran into Bella’s room.
She was sound asleep but I started shaking her, pretty violently, until she woke up with a jolt.
She was scared at first, until she realized that it was me sitting on her bed next to her.
“What’s going on?” She asked.
“You need to get up. Now.” I said, urgently while I got off of her bed.
“What are you talking about? What’s going on?” She asked, getting out of bed.
“I need you to start packing. Everything. We’re leaving.” I said, walking out of her room but she followed me.
“Lainey. What the hell is going on?” She asked, desperate for some answers.
“There’s an Alpha in town. I’ve met him a couple of times now. He was at work tonight and he bailed me up as I was leaving. He was asking a lot of questions. We just need to leave before he figures it out.” I demanded.
“Alright. What are you doing?” She asked.
“You know that money that I stashed?” i asked.
“Yeah. In the abandoned building.” She said.
“That’s where I’m going. I’ll get the cash and I’ll be back. Please, just have everything ready by the time I get back.” i said.
“Alright.” She said.
So I grabbed my bag again and I ran out the front door and down the street.
I made my way to the abandoned building and I moved a board over the was covering the window before I went inside.
I navigated my way through the old house until I got to the kitchen at the back of the house.
I opened one of the cupboards and I lifted the floorboards that were loose and I pulled out a box that had a lot of money rolled up in it.
I put that in my bag and I started running back to the house.
Just as I turned the corner heading towards our house, I ran into Tristan.
“Wow. Where’s the fire?” He asked.
“What?” I asked, confused.
“What’s the hurry?” He asked.
“Nothing. Get out of my way.” I said, trying to get around him. But he grabbed my arm and stopped me.
“Are you alright? You look like you’re in trouble.” Tristan said.
“What the f**k is wrong with everyone? Why is everyone so interested in me all of a sudden?” I snapped at him.
“What?” He asked.
“Why does everyone care about me and what I’m doing?” I yelled.
“Hey, I’m sorry. You just looked really panicked about something. I thought you might need some help.” He said.
I saw the sincerity in Tristan’s eyes and I let out a sigh before relaxing my shoulders a bit.
“Listen, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you. You’re not the one that made me angry. I’m sorry. But I do have to go.” I said.
“Alright. Well, you know where I am if you need anything.” He said.
“Thanks.” I said.
I got back to the house and as soon as I burst through the front door I slammed it shut behind me, but I froze as soon as I looked up.
Bella was sitting on the couch, scared and crying while there were three warriors standing around her.
“Hello Lainey. I knew you were not dead, good job hiding. ” Simon said. Simon was my dad’s head warrior. We got to know each other really well when my father would let that creep have freebies with me.
“Are you alright Bella?” I asked.
“Oh. She’s just fine. We haven’t done anything to her yet.” He said.
“That black eye of hers is saying something else.” I said.
“Your father is waiting for us. I wonder how your father is going to react when he sees what a good life his beloved dead daughter has made for herself?” He said, walking towards me. So I dropped my bag on the ground.
“Well, you better be prepared to kill me. Because that’s the only way I will ever go back to him.” I said.
“I’m sure I can stop you from doing something stupid.” He said.
“Don’t be so sure.” I said.
So he started to approached me and I knew that I couldn’t use claws or canines, but I still had strength and I was going to fight to the death here.
As soon as Simon got close enough and I saw that sickening grin on his face, I grabbed him by the shoulders and I kneed him in the stomach, catching him off guard.
He didn’t know that I could fight as well as I could.
I then headbutted him and he fell back a couple of feet but one of the other warriors charged me and knocked me to the ground.
He held me down while Simon approached me again.
“Wow. I forgot how feisty you could get.” Simon smirked.
“You have no idea.” I said, reaching under the couch and I grabbed the gun I had stashed there that was full of silver bullets.
I pointed it straight at Simon and I pulled the trigger, just as the warrior who was holding me down tried to wrestle the gun off of me I kneed him in the crutch and he rolled off of me.
I got to my feet and I shot him in the head while he was on the ground.
The third warrior though, he had grabbed Bella and was using her as a shield.
He was taunting me. Knowing that I couldn’t get a clean shot at him without hitting her.
So I looked down instead. I shot him in the foot which was in the open and when he let go of Bella, I aimed for his chest and shot off another two bullets.
Bella was on the ground, hysterical so I ran over and I grabbed her and helped her up. I put her arm across my shoulders so I could help her out of the house and I grabbed my bag.
We got out to the street when I saw another black mercedes come speeding down the street and I raised my gun at the car.
Suddenly I heard the roar of motorbikes behind me.
Tristan pulled up right next to me and his friend got off the bike and took Bella from me. He put Bella on his bike and after a little hesitation I jumped on the back of Tristan’s bike and we took off.
I should have known that son of a b***h was going to snitch on me.
I just wish we had left the day before. When we still had a chance at a clean get away. Why did I leave it so long?
Now we were on the run again, just like two years ago.
