REED’S POV
“You are back with that fucker after you broke up just last week?” I exclaim, leaning forward in disbelief as the words leave my mouth louder than I intend, but at this point we are all at least a drink deep, the exhausted edges of the day dulled just enough for honesty to come out unfiltered.
Jade does not even flinch. If anything, she lifts her chin slightly, like she has already braced herself for this reaction and decided she does not care. She knows we are always going to say that. I’m a jerk. Or at least I used to be. But even I know Jade deserves much better than that Henry dude.
