CHAPTER 66: BONDED The wedding dress does not suit her. It’s too white for her liking. The veil, just everything doesn’t feel right. “You’re so beautiful, Carsel.” Mrs. Drosell smiled sweetly. She is the one who fixed her hair, but Carsel knew she was lying. Staring back at her reflection, all she could see was a pathetic maltreated girl of the Dravian mansion. Always the one who was ordered, treated differently just because she was ugly. Carsel have big arms and legs. She have freckles all over her face and she looks pale…much paler than Adriana, who was showered by love, and acceptance. She smiled sadly. “I am beautiful.” But the bitter truth left a pang on her chest. She is hideous. “Come, I’m sure Trevor would love to see you.” He’ll be disgusted. She thought. Mrs. Drosell guided her outside of the room, but when they went out, it was only Lucio who greet them. “Where is my son?” She asked calmly. “He went with Amber, mother.” Lucio shrugged his shoulder. He rolled up his sleeves, before looking up to them. When he did, he smiled brightly to Carsel. “I knew that dress would suit you, Carsel.” He chuckled. Her cheeks flared. Can she still convinced herself more that she is not going to be wanted, when a gorgeous man complimented her? “T—thank you.” Carsel stammered. “Oh god!” But Mrs. Drosell brushed away her smile. “He’s with that girl again?! I told him that he was not allowed to see that woman ever again, Lucio!” This is the first time she saw her outburst. “He likes her—” “Don’t say that in front of Carsel!” The woman scolded her son. “What’s wrong with it?” Lucio rolled his eyes. “Carsel and Trevor do not like each other, it wasn’t as if this marriage could make the love one another, so let them be. Let him have a side woman—” SLAP. “I warned you!” Mrs. Drosell was mad. Carsel was stunned when she slapped him hard. “Okay, I’ll get him.” But Lucio didn’t need to, because at that exact moment, Trevor showed up, but he wasn’t alone. Behind him was a woman, an innocent looking woman whose hand was held tight with his own. This might have been Amber. She thought. “You were looking for me?” But it isn’t that woman that grab her attention, it might have been too dark last night that she never noticed that Trevor was…on a wheelchair. Is it the reason why Adriana refuse to marry him? Mrs. Drosell faced them, her eyes are furious, “And what is she doing here?” She demanded. Trevor remain calm, “She is my girlfriend—” “WAS.” Mrs. Drosell emphaized. “And today you are to marry Carsel!” “I love Amber.” He hardened his resolve. “And did she tell you that she loves you too, son?” Mrs. Drosell sarcastically said. “Didn’t she tels you how good it was to kiss our mailman?” Amber’s eyes widened, “M—Madame” “Stop ruining Amber in front of my eyes just because—” When Trevor’s eyes laid to Carsel, it was full of hate. “—of her. You can’t force me to marry her, I will only marry Amber, if you like it or not, mother.” “Oh really?” Mrs. Drosell smirk. She composed herself. “Then, I’ll give you until tomorrow to decide. The wedding will be cancelled tonight, but leave this castle, then speak your mind the next day whether you still wanted that woman or marry Carsel Dravian, Trevor.” Carsel felt odd. Mrs. Drosell seems somewhat sure that Trevor would turned his back away from Amber…as if she was expecting for something to happen. “Can I ask you a question?” This bugs her. “What it is?” Mrs. Drosell glanced on her shoulder as they went inside the castle after Trevor left. “Why are you confident that Trevor would marry me?” She continued. Mrs. Drosell only chuckled and said menacingly, “Because he will. You’ll see tomorrow that he is the one who’ll initiate the wedding.” Which he did. “I am going to marry Carsel Dravian, Mother.” It was early in the morning, when he joined them for breakfast and announced. Carsel almost spilled her own coffee upon hearing what she said. Mrs. Drosell chuckled, “As expected, the ceremony would take place tonight.” Carsel was taken aback. What happened? Why is he so submissive today, and the real question was…where is Amber, the woman he proudly claimed to marry instead of her? “You knew about it, didn’t you?” Trevor laughs bitterly, when he confronted his mother. “Knew about what?” Mrs. Drosell looked at him, she raised her eyebrows. But he knew better. Looking at his hand reminds him of Amber on her last breathe, their last kiss as she offered herself all to him. Blood smeared palms… as he killed her ruthlessly just like any other bride. She was begging at first for him to stop, he wanted to, but he couldn’t. Trevor just couldn’t stop, the thirst is too much. His heart shattered at the reminder of her. “I killed her…” He said. “Of course you do, she’s a human and she have something that you crave for, son.” His mother stood up. When she grew closer at him, she placed her hands on his shoulder and gave it a light squeeze. “We do things that we didn’t knew we are capable of, that’s our nature.” “Aren’t you afraid that your bride would meet the same fate?” Trevor clenched his jaw. Mrs. Drosell chuckled, “I am not yet sure, besides if she dies..? Then, we can take her sister or any other woman that can continue our bloodline, Trevor.” “You are a monster.” “We all are…son.” Mrs. Drosell whispered softly. When the ceremony begins, Carsel expected to see Trevor, but he did not appear. If Lucio did not told her that it is part of their wedding, she would have believe that Trevor abandoned her again. “Lady Carsel Dravian, do you take Lord Trevor Maximus Drosell as your lawfully wedded husband?” The priest asked. Carsel’s palm felt clammy. She gulps, and manage a meek, “Y—yes, I do.” She do not. This marriage is loveless. It was ironic that she has been force, but neither of her parents showed up on this day. What does she expect? They detested her being. “Trevor is waiting for you in his room, Carsel.” Mrs. Drosell was smiling fondly after the ceremony ended. There are no guest, although the place is extravagant. It was just them, Lucio and the priest. “Go to him, he was expecting you.” Although nervous, Carsel only nodded her head, but Lucio’s worried glance did not escape her gaze. It was as if he didn’t want her to go. Why would he? Does he not trust his brother that much? She chuckled at that thought. When she entered the castle, it feels strange. The night air was a little cold, and chilly. Carsel wrapped her arms around herself. “Weird.” She whispered. Her footsteps echoed. She almost thought that it is the wedding being held at midnight is what she will find bizarre, but the atmosphere inside the place became peculiar. Living with the Drosells for a short time, for two days she already find them strange. Mrs. Drosell’s words full of meaning and Amber’s disappearance. They are all weird. Screeech. Her heart jumped upon the sudden screech. “H—hello?” Her throat dry. The sound was coming from the other end of the hallway. Warning bells rang, she wanted to runaway, but she told herself to bear it, and find Trevor quickly. Although afraid, Carsel quickened her steps. She followed series of staircase, but from the shadows a pair of red eyes glinted…eyeing her with the same thirst. “Mine.” “Trevor?” When she reached his room, it was too dark, even when his curtains are parted on each sides. She bit her lips. The darkness felt like it would suffocate her. With her shaking hands, Carsel feel the wall, looking for a light only to find a pair of strong hands snaking around her waist. “O—Oh my god!” She yelped, fighting the urge to run, when she smell his scent. “T—Trevor?” It was Trevor. She didn’t know why she was so certain that it was him. “Quite.” He whispered stern. And Carsel could hear his heartbeat against his own chest—it was loud, rigid and full of vigor. “Why are you—” GROWL. Her eyes widened. Did she heard it right? The growl was ferocious, it made the floor shook, but even Carsel’s insides churned. “Keep quite until it go away.” He said. Carsel slowly nodded. There are loud thump on the ground, the floor creaks as if it couldn’t carry much weight. Whatever it is, she was hoping that it would go away just like what he promised. “Will it really—” Carsel didn’t have the time to react. In a matter of seconds, the wall crumbles and a black mass whipped on the air, it was fast, leaving dust of smoke on its trail. “s**t!” Trevor cursed. “O—oh my god! What was that—” She glanced over him only to get confused. “Lucio?” It wasn’t Trevor that she saw, but his brother—Lucio. “What are you doing here—” “Damn it!” Lucio grab her wrist, and pulled her. “I’ll explain later on!” He said. “But—Oh my god! Put me down!” Lucio carried Cassel on his arms. But her struggles fell onto deaf ear. “Lucio—!” “If you still wanted to get the hell out of here alive, hold tight, Carsel.” He warned her through gritted teeth. Her face pale, “W—what—” When he took off, that moment Carsel realizes that she did not marry to a normal family. Besides, who have on their right mind would jump out of the balcony from the tenth floor? No other then Lucio Drosell with Carsel Dravian on his arms. SLAM. Mrs. Drosell’s face shows despised, “How dare he interfere with the ceremony?!” She was mad, beyond furious as she watched his youngest son elope with Trevor’s bride. He wasn’t suppose to take her, Carsel was supposed to carry Trevor’s mark and bear them a heir. That is what should happen, but Lucio was stubborn. “What do you wanted us to do, madame?” One of her men asked. She clicked her tongue, “Just leave them be, I am sure that Trevor would find their scent soon.” He will. She was certain of it, knowing that her eldest never disappoint her. When Mrs. Drosell saw the large beast pouncing on the ground of their castle, a smile slipped past across her lips. In glee, she laughs, “Go, my boy. Claim what is yours…” He’ll find them, once he does—Carsel would be mark, mated…and soon killed just like many brides he has. “W—what was that?” Carsel shuddered. She sit there, trembling when Lucio stopped on his tracks and placed her down. But the image of that beast never left her. The terrifying blackness and its brooding anger that lashed out and could get them killed. “It’s better if you do not know, Carsel.” Lucio kneeled in front of her. He looks serious, far from his cheeky remark. “You should go, before he finds you.” “W—who?” She gulps. “You know who.” Lucio stood up. “Now go, leave when you still have the chance to walk away—” “B—but I don’t know where to go.” She have nowhere to go. It was as if her parents would still accept her after knowing that she escape the Drosell’s in spite of the danger she was at risk. They highly value their name. She bitterly thought.
