CHAPTER 67: ESCAPE ARTIST
Raquel manage to picked up her restraints. When she did, she carefully move, so careful, while her heart was hammering against her chest. She was taking a risk here. If she did not escape so soon, her chances to be free won’t come anymore.
“I needed to do this.” She told herself, pushing the door opened.
Raquel winced slightly, when it let out a low screech, when it scrap the floor, and then silence first greeted her. The walls are painted in a grey color, it looks old, withering as if it had been long abandoned. When she finally reach the stairs, she slowly climbed down, but Raquel was stopped on her tracks, when she heard voices.
Right, voices.
“s**t!” She cursed.
They are getting closer. Left with no choice, Raquel quickly opened the nearest room she could find and hide there.
“You know that I can’t let her run free unless she sued us.” It was Jasper speaking to somebody she isn’t familiar with.
It is a woman, but she was certain that it is not Erika at all.
“Just make sure that you have her on your fingers, we can’t risk Raquel running from her and going to Eliot.” Its voice is much more calmer, and much more older.
Raquel was tempted to peer. She wanted to crawled out from the bed and see for herself, but she stopped now. Even if it is the person behind her a*******n, that that doesn’t mean she could risk her only chances of being free her. After she finally made it out alive, she’ll f out why.
As the voices fades away, Raquel goes out from her hiding spot.
“That almost—”
But her voice fades. Her tongue was tied, when she felt something on her head.
“Make any noise or I am going to shoot you.” It was Erika and she was threatening to kill her.
Raquel gulps.
She could feel her g*n touching her temples and the mere thought, one wrong mistake and she would die right there and then.
“W—what do you want?” She 2as trembling with fear.
Erika did not speak for a moment, before she slowly put the g*n down. Given the chance, Raquel whipped her head across and there she is, same as her—Erika’s wrist was red fro the tightness of the restrained that bound them on the bed post. But it doesn’t seem he do mind it at all.
“Please don’t kill me.” She pleaded, although she did not just told her that she would kill her right there for an instant.
“Geez, I am not going to kill you.” Erika rolled her eyes.
As if she would believed her! She pointed a g*n on her head, threatened her the moment she arrived as if she was one of the most hated person she had ever meet, and now she was reassuring her that she is not going to kill Raquel?
The hell is her problem!
“W—what do you want from me?” In spite of her fear, Raquel manage to ask those words
When Erika face her, Raquel could see something from her eyes…but it was unread.
That for a moment intrigued her.
“What do I want?” Erika repeated those words. She looked at her straight on her eyes. “It’s easy, I wanted you to be free, because you needed to do something for me, Raquel.”
“What it is?” Confused, she asked.
“—bring Eliot back to power, and reclaim what was once stolen from him…”
By what she meant of, Lauren.
“What kind of nonsense the news are talking about me?!” Eliot demanded, he was mad, lashing his anger to Jerome, who visit him later that evening for his hourly rounds.
Dr. Gonzales face-palm, “How am I supposed to know?”
“But Anita knew!” Eliot clenched his jaw.
His brooding fury was plastered all over his face. Nobody could appease him, only Raquel, but even she was not there, and was still missing. Eliot have a lot on his plate and the news only made it worst.
He couldn’t apt it. He refused to accept it.
“Anita knew?” Jerome frowns. What the hell is she planning now? “What do you mean she knew?”
“She shows me the news.” Eliot draw a loud breathe. “Now, I wanted it to be clear.” He was Frank. “I wanted to be discharge immediately, I can pay, I’ll f*****g pay how much my days here cost, and you—” When he saw Jerome’s attempt to speak, Eliot was quick to threatened him. “—you do not have any say, you are just my doctor.”
Doctor Gonzales was taken aback.
Is he really facing the Duke that many feared? Jerome thought at that moment.
“If I refuse?”
Eliot’s glare intensify, “Refuse and this hospital will suffer the cost of your decision.”
Jerome’s eyes widened, “You wouldn’t dare, Mr. Duke! Many sponsors founded this hospital, big names on the society—”
Eliot chuckled darkly, “Trust me, you wouldn’t want to know what I am capable of, Doctor Gonzales.”
Jerome didn’t need to. He is well aware what authority he has.
“I fully understand.” But he reminded himself to talk to Indra afterwards. He couldn’t let him go, they couldn’t yet. “I’ll send the waiver tomorrow—”
“No.” Eliot hardened his face. His expression never changes. “I am not waiting until tomorrow, I wanted it NOW.”
And the great Eliot Duke gets what he wants.
“S—Sir!” The butler was astound, shocked, when he was contacted by Eliot to fetched him on the hospital.
He hurried on his feet, opening the backset for the latter, but his eyes remained to Eliot. His face was dark, hooded orbs that were masked by shadow. His brooding aura was intimidating making his butler, Henry—to gulp.
When he entered the car, Eliot lies his head, and shutting down both of his orbs. He was weary, worried.
Where the hell did you go Raquel? Up until now she was still nowhere to be seen but before her, Eliot have some matters to attend to.
“Henry?” He called.
“Y—yes, Sir?”
“I wanted you to bring me to the company now.” The company that has been stolen, but that doesn’t mean the thieves who stab him behind his back would remain unpunished.
He’ll show them what they are going against with.
