CHAPTER 68: HIS GAME “Henry it seems like you are taking a wrong turn.” Eliot speak his mind. He is no fool, and he’s no blind. He wouldn’t pretend as if he did not notice his strange behavior ever since. His eyes glancing back on the mirror to him, and the uncertain flick of his finger as he clutch the wheel. His shoulder is tense. A guilty outlook that he was keeping something from Eliot. “You should have not called me, Sir.” Henry whispered, but it reached Eliot. His voice was shaking as if he was trying to get in control, but he couldn’t. “You should just stay there and never come back, Sir Eliot.” It was easy for Eliot to finally grasp the situation. His hooded eyes darkened, “Who paid you?” He certainly didn’t need to ask. It was obviously Lauren, who cut those closer to Eliot, wrapping her arms around their neck just like what she did to her. He knew her—Lauren was like a venomous snake that would take everything she wanted, coiled on her palms perfectly. Helpless, and submissive. “It’s Madame.” Henry admitted. “If I go against with her, she’ll fire and I—I needed this job for my daughter, Sir.” She really choose her pawn well. Henry has a daughter who was diagnosed with leukemia. One of the reason why Eliot gave him this job, but even until now—he did not regret his decision. He was just a victim of Lauren’s game. A ruthless game, which centered Eliot as her number one enemy. “How much did she promised, Henry?” Eliot remain calm. They are no longer on the cemented highway, but o a bumpy ride. The drive remain on an unfurnished road. Trees stood aligned on each sides as it grows dark, and much darker. “A billion, Sir.” He have this guilty tone on his voice that did not escape Eliot’s scrutinizing gaze. “And it was enough for my daughters operation, I hope you understand, Sir Eliot.” “I do well understand, Henry.” It is true, but that doesn’t mean Eliot was giving away this chance already. “But I can pay you more than that, only if you give back your loyalty to me.” “I—I can’t, Sir.” His driver shook his head, full of regrets for what he is yet to commit. “I can’t risk Iris, I am well aware of what Madame is capable of. Madame Lauren…she’s not somebody that I wanted to go against with—” I know the feeling before. Eliot thought. “And you really think Iris would want this?” He tried to bring up his daughter. “No, but I am doing what is the best for her, Sir.” The engine stop. Before he opened the driver seat, he pulled up something. “Please, don’t do anything that will force me to hurt you, Sir Eliot.” It was a g*n. He was holding it against to Eliot. “I understand.” Eliot slowly followed Henry outside the car. He didn’t know where they are, but in front—there was a cabin. “Where are we—” “Don’t ask questions, go inside and I’ll make sure that everything will be alright, Sir.” Henry gestured. Eliot was tempted to stole the g*n from his hand, he was eyeing it, when suddenly Henry walked closer at him. “What—” “Get inside, I’ll explain everything, Sir Eliot.” He said anxiously. Eliot frowns. He was confused of his sudden change of behavior, when he signaled inside the car, and that’s when Eliot realizes why. “There’s a tracker in your car, Sir.” When they went inside, Henry was quick to explained. “And Madame Lauren is listening so I needed what I must do or else she’ll make an example of my daughter…” Henry wept his eyes, he was shaking, full of fears. Despite of what he have done earlier, Eliot knew that the middle age man do not deserve it. He was just a father, who worries about his daughter’s well-being. Eliot sits beside him, “Where’s Iris?” “Madame Lauren was keeping her on the hospital that she referred us to, Sir.” Tears streamed on Henry’s eyes. He was crying. “I don’t know what to do, but she said that if I bring you to her, she’ll L go of my daughter.” “Like a ransom.” How evil could Lauren go? Keeping a child closer to her so that she could take control over her father. This is ridiculous. Eliot didn’t know how desperate she was to get rid of him. Every means she’ll take just so he could remove Eliot. She’s vicious, evil. “—That’s what you are going to do, Henry.” Eliot looked at his driver. A determined look flashed before his eyes. “B—but Sir—” Henry was totally opposed at that idea, but Eliot seems like he was planning something, but he is. If Lauren wanted to play a game, then he’ll give it to her…the way she wanted. But that also means setting aside his worries for Raquel, and taking back his position as the rightful owner. True to her words, Erika helped her escape until Raquel found herself before the same hospital where she left Eliot for days. Unintentionally, because she was abducted. Raquel’s cheat was filled with overwhelming emotion. Oh, how much she missed him! She couldn’t wait to see Eliot and told him how much she longs for him. The moment she went inside, Raquel rushes to the room, but no sign of Eliot greeted her eyes. “Eliot?” She called, but nobody answer her calls. It was as if he was gone, disappeared the same day she went missing. But where could he go? Did he left her? Her mind was filled with so many questions that remain unanswered. Raquel waked closer to the bed. It was neatly fold, straightened sheets as if it was never been occupied by somebody else, but Eliot was just here… “Where did you go?” Raquel whispered sadly. Did you abandoned me again?” “Raquel?” Jerome calls upon recognizing who she is. He seems surprised as if he was not expecting to see her here. “H—hey.” Raquel remember the doctor. “What are you doing here?” Jerome asked. “Didn’t Eliot told you?” That grab her attention. “Told me what?” She asked. “Eliot left last night, and I heard he’s going back home…” Home? Eliot left without even trying to find her. That certainly made the inside of her mouth tastes bitter. He abandoned her…just like what he did before.
