AT HIS SERVICE

“Mr. Salvador wanted you to join him for breakfast.” It is one of Romanov’s men, who had greeted Anna earlier that morning. She was groggy. Her eyes are red, and her temples are throbbing for an upcoming headache. Sleep deprived, black bags hang underneath her eyes. The stubborn Anna wanted to refused, but she knew that she can’t live last long, if she do that. If she dies her, her efforts to provoke Romanov and take revenge to the Mason’s would only be futile. Thinking of her mother’s triumphant eyes last night made her blood boil in anger. Just you wait and see. “O—okay, I’ll go.” Anna swallowed her fear. “Follow me.” The man leads all the way, and it was the first time she had allowed herself to see and peer what the Salvador’s are proud of. The floor is made of marbles, and the walls are painted in a royal blue shade, while the ceiling seems crafted by most skilled artist. It held a magnificent view of angels, and a few men on their feet. It looks…beautiful. Anna whispered. But her train of thoughts had been soon cut off. “We’re here.” The double doors that was shut closed when they arrived was pushed opened. And the man isn’t lying. There he is, Romanov Salvador at the other end of the long table. He was busy sipping a wine from his glass…but he isn’t the only one that caught Anna’s attention. It is because Romanov is not alone. On his left, a beautiful woman was occupying the seat. “Who is she…” Out of the blue, Anna couldn’t help, but asked. Only when she turned her head upon their arrival, her question has been filled. It is Moira Roxas, one of the renown and currently famous international model in Asia. “Oh.” Moira seems surprised. Her eyes are skeptical as she watched her. “I didn’t know that we have a guest here, honey.” Honey? Did she just called him honey? Is he already cheating on her after their wedding? But then, who is she fooling? It is a shotgun marriage. No love is involve and she was to blame why Romanov still pursued the marriage. He wanted his revenge, and from his anger, that’s where Anna will benefit from to also bring down the Mason. “H—hi!” Forcing herself to stay calm, Anna meekly uttered. She could feel Romanov’s penetrating gaze, but she avoided looking to where he is, and mainly focus her eyes to Moira. “Well, hi.” Moira smiled at her. She was beautiful indeed. Anna thought. No wonder that Romanov and her are in an intimate relationship. What is there to explain her being in this mansion, isn’t it? “I know you.” Anna continued. “I am a fan!” It is a half lie and a truth. She knew Moira, she have seen her on the news and so she is not that naïve to her whereabouts. A pleasing expression flashed before the woman’s eyes, “I didn’t know, but oh well, it is nice meeting you. Why don’t you join us for breakfast?” The warning gaze sent to Anna’s direction became more ominous. It was obvious that Romanov is against her idea, but to worsen the situation—Moira turned her head and smiled at him nonchalantly. “Can she join us for breakfast?” She asked calmly. “No.” But it was his firm refusal that she earned back. “Romanov—” “I said no, Ms. Roxas.” He was formal. Moira’s smile faltered, “Oh…I…I understand, honey.” “Besides as I remind you, you are not here as a guest.” He was extremely cold. Now, Anna is confused. Are they in a relationship? She asked herself. Because they doesn’t seems like it, although she was calling Romanov honey. “You can’t keep me here forever, Roman.” Moira’s soft features changed. “My father will come here and I assure you that he won’t take lightly, if you over lay a hand on me.” “I won’t as long as you don’t force me so, Ms. Roxas.” By his tone, they could tell and Anna could tell that he is deadly serious. Is this the man she married? Anna felt a nudge on her back. “Move.” It was the same man earlier. Although she wanted to stay and hear more what’s going on, she were more afraid to get in trouble. Anna meekly followed, but not before meeting Romanov’s eyes and his hawk eyes that was staring at her rather in an intense manner. “From now on, you will be working here and serving the young master.” The elder woman called Nancy eyed her. She was strict. Her fare are firm. Although she is around at the age of 6p, she still love quicker than the rest of the maids there. But Anna is baffled. “Like a maid?” She frowns. She just don’t understand. She thought she was called, because she was meant to join Romanov for breakfast and not to be here. “Yes, is there a problem?” Nancy sneered. “Oh, I think I know why you are complaining—” “N—no, you get the wrong idea. I am not complaining—” Anna tried to explain. “Oh, quit trying to pretend you were innocent, girl.” Nancy continued. “You really think that by pulling a stunt that made young master marry you, then that would be it? Ha! Dream on! You maybe his wife in papers, but young master is disgusted by you.” “W—what…” Won’t she even asked whether she ever likes Romanov? “I heard the rumors.” Nancy spat at her as if she loathed Anna, even if it was the first tike that they had run with each other. “I was repulse, it was just a relief that young master don’t fool for your foolish act and he isn’t as stupid as you think he is. I don’t know why he is keeping you alive, but I’ll keep my eyes on you…” Her heart skip a beat. The warning bells inside her head are all ringing. “I didn’t know what you are talking about.” She nervously mustered. Did the rumors quickly spread already? “Just let this be a warning, Anna Mason or whoever you are.” Nancy stepped forward and face Anna. “I am always watching you and I won’t let you do the same trick to the young master…again.” It is beyond warning, but a threat as if…Nancy was ready to do something unimaginable for Romanov…even if it means harming Anna for his own sake.
