I dreaded having to leave Grace, but there was no other option. I simply couldn’t leave Serena hanging. She had done too much to help me over the years, and now it was time for me to return the favor in full.
I also dreaded having to face her father, the vampire king. Especially after leaving the kingdom unannounced. Of course, I expected there would be consequences for my actions, but I wasn’t ready to face those consequences. Especially not now with so much at stake.
