Ch 16: Dangerous Play

1294 Words

Jennifer, feeling a bit off after breaking up with Jeremy, decided to walk home, instead of taking the bus. She enjoyed the warmth of the sunrays hitting her face and her arms. And she wandered the streets, head in the clouds. She knew she had done the right thing. Nevertheless, Jeremy's broken face haunted her, making it hard to breathe at times. The only guilt that remained was that of not coming completely clean with him. But he was such a sweet guy, she couldn't bring herself to tell him she was in love with someone else. When she entered the house, almost an hour later, she could hear Lucas talking in the living room. She guessed he was on the phone, but she didn't stop to eavesdrop, her jealousy losing the battle against her hunger. Her lunch hadn't been very consistent after all.
