Kiser and Ina

1811 Words
In fact, in the awful coven’s mind since she was just fourteen, Ina shouldn’t have been smart enough to say no. And since it had been a no of vigor and assurance that she did not want to marry that man or have his babies, they couldn’t push it or try to force her knowing how it could end. Upset, the plotting coven had tried to buy time with the coven leader they were trying to give her to. Stating that it was clear she needed time to mature before being his wife, they bid their time holding him off and in the meantime were punishing her for not doing as they wanted. Insults and torments, hits and pushes. She was soon isolated and the whip girl of the coven, and their children. On the ground and the foot on her neck not letting up, Ina kept getting the hints she’d have to mate the coven leader. Even if she didn’t want to. And when begging her mother led to nothing? She just ran. “I ran away after they kept insisting it was what was best for me. I was sixteen and they were out of time and wanted me to do what they wanted whether I wanted to or not and I would have jumped off the highest point before I let that man have me. So, I ran, but of course they tried to find me, they’d promised me. So, they sent the coven leader they were trying to give me to, to bring me back. And I could have been killed.” And worse. Having avoided his advances, the groping coven leader old enough to be her father if not her grandfather kept trying to kiss her. And when she’d felt him undoing his pants and ripping her underwear off? She’d lost sense. “It was my first time ever hurting someone.” Always taught to do magic when it suited others and the needs of the coven, protecting herself had been a shocking and foreign concept to Ina. “I ran and ran after I saw what I did to him.” Having thrown him around like he was an old ugly doll she hated as the new barbie came on the block, Ina had crushed his bones and kept him alive so he could suffer. His memories and thoughts putrid, she let him die haunted by his sins instead of his pleasures. Their screams of pain leading him into the fiery hell he deserved. “I met Kaiser, and he was no better off.” Kaiser nodded for once looking serious and sad, “I don’t remember my parents, but I had a brother. We were separated when we were fifteen and I never knew why but I couldn’t find him after I turned eighteen. I was living with my supposed it godfather who everyone thought was such a good man, but that man was nothing to me but a demon.” Surprised to see such a happy man so hateful of someone, Henry didn’t ask out of respect. And Kaiser couldn’t even begin to pull back the layer that had been Nathanial Siemon. Ina grinned softly not dwelling on the pain as she thought of when she first saw her husband, “But when we met it was like the sky opened up.” He had been filthy, but she’d giggled seeing the cute blonde boy having been eagerly running around. Almost like he had never felt freer than in that moment… “The second she looked at me I knew I was hers and had to do everything right from that moment. Because I knew she’d give me everything. So, I’d do the same.” He kissed the back of Ina’s hand as if saying he’d been right. And as their mating sigils blended with their marriage ceremony runes, the witches beamed as the moon and sun ink both stood against their flesh proudly. “You have. We have the best life because of you. Perfect husband, mate, and daddy. He’s going to be the best girl dad ever.” Grinning happily, Katherine gasped excitedly, “Wait, girl!?” Nodding eagerly, Kaiser cheered, “Yes, we finally got our doula to help tell us. She was being so shy, telling us if she was a prince or princess. It was hard to get a read, but we finally know and I’m about to spazz out.” Katherine beamed at how happy both were and gushed, “Send me a text once you settle after you have her, I’d love to bring some things. My mom would too.” Thanking her for thinking of them, Katherine and Ina were enjoying the night air as Kaiser and Henry cleaned after he put Jack to bed. “Hey, thanks for inviting us around. It was really a nice night, we had fun.” Kaiser beamed, “Thanks. I’m glad you guys came around too. Sorry if we gotta little heavy on y’all for a second. We like to be honest and show all the flaws early.” In case of a meltdown s***h panic attack which both got frequently. Or worse something like last week happened and another side of them came out. “Something happened?” Henry’s question made Kaiser wince a little, because yes something did. And it hadn’t been pretty. “A woman who use to…well torment, is what that woman did to my wife. And it hadn’t ended until she ran away, and she was one of the women who encouraged that man to come after her.” And when she’d seen the mid-forties woman who looked just as surprised to see Ina still alive, the glance to her belly was the line. The questions, the reach for it like they were close? Was when the dumb lady crossed it. Which Ina showed slapping her hand away disgust as she stared back at the woman with it boiling in her veins. Because how dare she? “After inflicting harsh, disgusting, and bullying tactics to get Ina to marry that p*****t she had the gall to act like some mother figure. That what happened was just a misunderstanding and he was the problem alone.” But he wasn’t. It was them too, and Ina hadn’t forgotten. “Good.” Henry knew it was probably brutal. And it had been. The magic Ina summoned out of anger as she powerful in such a supposedly fragile state. In the quiet alley, both witches stopped, and Mary-Alice Cortland cried as her eyes bled, “Please, you don’t understand-.” Ina shook her head with a small smile, “Oh but I do. You see, you and the others thought that because I was young, I was stupid. You thought because I didn’t have a mother, I was guideless and would be easily influenced.” Ina eyes, a bright white that resembled milk glowed in the mid spring day, “But I listen to myself before I listened to anyone else. And I said no, you punished me for it. All of you did.” Mary-Alice’s tear mixed with her blood, the once dark black hair now grey as she wheezed, “WE jushh wanted was best for you!” Ina’s eyes narrowed at the lie, “No. You wanted power and thought giving me to that nasty weirdo would give it to you. I know he promised you a Book of Shadows, and you all took the bait. And would have sold me to him, but I didn’t want to play along. How could you do that to a little girl?” Mary-Alice’s eyes rolled to the back of her head as the pressure increased, “What choice did we have? Your mom was the last talented witch and she let a man ruin her. She fell into her addiction and destroyed all her brilliance because what? He wouldn’t leave his wife? Fool. She should have taken what was offered and kept her pride. And her sanity. And her power. At least he was honest about it.” Trembling, since Mary-Alice would know, Ina’s skin prickled as the woman rasped, “And you were being selfish. We had nothing else and knew if the humans came, we’d be wiped out. So, we tried to keep ourselves alive. Our coven. Our magic. It was dying, we wanted it back and knew if he gave us that book of shadows, we’d make it.” Ina nodded knowing self-preservation made people do crazy things. So, she would too. “I can respect that, but you failed. And greediness? Cost you.” Her spell in French sounded like a sexy whisper but as the woman died in agony, Mary-Alice’s putrid soul left the earth as her body exploded into bright white glitter. And Ina felt ten times better knowing that. “I understand not being perfect.” Henry assured Kaiser watching their women worried as genuine love shined in his gaze, “I’ve been going through my own s**t too and I know it’s got it’s layers.” Kaiser amended that as Henry grinned, “But, I know one thing, it’s alright now because we’re with good friends. One we both, are going to enjoy being close to in the future.” Seeing their wives gushing about girl names and Ina so warmed to Katherine, Kaiser nodded as he beamed smiling. And when Jack stumbled in sleepily, he wasn’t upset when his buddy went and held out his arms for Henry. And Henry didn’t hesitate to rock him and soon on the large and warm man, the little witch slept deep as Henry suddenly looked out to Katherine and Ina talking about something. Knowing the coast was clear he looked at Kaiser who stopped sipping his beer and asked, “What?” Henry grinned a little shy, “I never really had a girlfriend before Katherine.” A few dates with some tourist but then he’d been too swamped with his little sister to think about such things. And with his pack small and isolated? He hadn’t options in that front either. “I want to do something special for her.” Grinning, Kaiser told him of the time and place of a great idea that made Henry thank him. Their mates coming in a moment later, Katherine took Jack easily and carried him to bed. Little boy fisting her hair as she laid him down, she giggled as she took his four-year-old pudgy hands out of her curls. Stroking his hair back, Katherine left him to sleep and as she turned and found Henry’s grin, she flushed as he offered, “Want me to walk you home?” Nodding, he led her out and indeed walked her home. But Katherine wanted so much more.
