GAME OF STORME 2

“I have an announcement to make. Everyone! No one touches Skylene Summer Almeda or it will be the end of your stay in EAU.” “Shut up, Storme! You’re talking nonsense,” she hissed. “I also wanted to clear the rumors and gossip. Yes, we are dating exclusively. Summer is not only my girlfriend. Because —," I looked at Summer. A frown creased her forehead, ,"—we’re engaged.” As soon as I finished saying the words ‘engaged’ my backpack flew in the air spinning like a frisbee landing exactly on my face. Our classmates started to chatter loudly. They all talked all at once about me and Summer. Speculations here and there. Our professor looked rampageous at us. I walked to the vacant chair beside Summer making myself comfortable. I lifted my head and met her gaze. “Y-you-you could have told me you wanted to play frisbee. I’ll be glad to play with you in the field,” I said, slowly releasing my breath. “Funny, Storme! Funny!” Summer twisted her body away from me. She seems to be avoiding me looking attentively to the front. Why would she get mad with my announcement? Then, she murmured against her mouth, “No one said I wanted to play a flying disc with you.” A smile tugged at the corner of my mouth,“Why did you glide my backpack in the air instead of a flying kiss? You should be grateful I made yah mah girl.” I said in American slang tone, reaching her hands that were on top of her desk. Summer slowly arched eyebrow. “You’re such braggart, Storme! Never! Not even in my wildest dream would fall for you!” “I love you too, Sunshine! Don’t worry sweetheart. You’ll fall for me soon enough.`” Just as soon as I said my blabbery flirtatious words with Summer our professor went indignantly impatient. “Mr. Buenavente! Ms. Almeda! My class is not your secret rendezvous nor a lovers corner. Get out of my class! Out, now! I don’t need two adult monkeys playing like a chimp in my classroom.`” “Did he say monkeys?” said the looking nerdy student with her oversized eyeglass. “Mind your business,Nerdy!” said her seatmate. “We know Summer, she fights when she knows she’s right. Prof. Malaniton calling her monkey is out of the line,” said the other nerdy student. I’ve seen the looks when Summer gets angry but at this time, she’s in fury. Her face red. Her eyes blazed in annoyance. Professor Maliniton made Summer’s hackles rise. Seconds after, Summer grabbed her backpack, got up and marched to the front where our professor’s sitting and slammed her hands on his desk. “My class cards?” she said, throwing out her right hand with open palms to him. Professor Malaniton handed the card to Summer. “And your school badge!” Summer said in the most authoritative tone. She made a dangerous gaze on me that made me flinch. The whole classroom quiet down shutting their gob. I thought to myself, why is she acting an aristocrat if she is keeping a low profile? “Martinez, Villaluna, Buenavente! Take your class cards we’re outta here! I can’t leave you with this high nose teacher who doesn't remember he teaches here because of me. All of you! If you want a teacher who sees you as an animal not a human then stay here.” I can’t seem to understand why she is aggravated by the word ‘monkey”. He only called us a chimp and I don’t see anything offensive with it Professor Malaniton tongue clammed up and his skin turned white. She stepped closer to him and said,'' I am only seventeen so that doesn’t make me an adult. However, I partly own this institution. Not my parents but me. I have given you a warning Professor Dwight Malaniton. But you disrespect the person who got you a job. It was not Mama who hired you. It was me. So, I have the right to terminate your services. You don’t call Almedians monkeys or chimps . Whatever animal that is you have in your tiny brain of yours. Dwight, you are free to leave. You’re fired!” All the students got up and left the room and dispersed. I don’t know where Summer is going but we followed her. Me, Stella and Nadine. “Sweetheart, where are we going?” “Stop calling me sweetheart,Devin Storme. If you don’t want to be expelled.” “Expelled? Just by calling you sweetheart you will kick me out?” “Yes! If you don’t stop calling me that corny endearment pet name of yours. I’ll kick you forever out of my life! Get it? Now, buy me food I’m starving. I’ll wait for you at the rooftop.” I’m ready to walk away when she called me,” Wait up!” “Do you want anything else?” “Nah! Give me your phone.” “My phone?” “Yeah, how will you get access to the elevator to the rooftop if you don’t know the secret code?” “Access code?” “Yeah, only Halo, Nadine and Stella can step foot on my sanctuary. Four more hours before the student assembly I want to take a nap. Give me your phone, Devin Storme.” I gave Summer my phone and she quickly saved the code. I have no idea where the sanctuary place is. “Where is this place at?” “Sports building. You’ll see a red elevator that looks like a man door on the right corner of the basketball ring. Key the code in, it will take you to the rooftop of the building. There you’ll find my sanctuary.” “Alright, be right back!” I turned away from her and started walking to the cafeteria. Then, she hollered,” I like spaghetti and cheese fries.” “Okey dokey, Princess.” She smiled and slowly shook her head, walking away from me. I made my way to the cafeteria. When my order was completed I saw Red, Bren, and Dhrim with a tray full of snacks. “Dude, you alone?” I asked Red. “No, buddy. I-I’m buying spag and fries for Summer.” “Speaking of that stubborn kid. Is it true she fired, Dwight?” “Yeah, she did with no remorse.” “Finally, after many complaints only Summer can kick him out.” “What do you mean, Red?” “Dwight is known for shaming his students and use of bulgar words on them. I think Summer enrolled in his class just to observe him. It’s been a complaint raised to the board member for a year now.” “Board member? I heard her say, she hired Prof Mala-Mala—“ “Malaniton,” said Bren. “What you have there, dude?” “Spag and fries for Summer and burgers for the girls.” “That homophile was a fresh college graduate last year. He is a Halo band fanatic. Summer learned about his struggles to get a job. Knowing our kind hearted, princess. She helped him to be a professor here. Dwight is temporarily a substitute to Mr. Perez, your Business Management professor.” “That’s why Summer only called him, Dwight?” “Exactly!” Red answered. “Where are you guys going now?” I asked, looking at Dhrim. “To the sports building. Come with us! “You guys go ahead.” “See you in a few, Storme,” said Dhrim. “Better hurry, dude, Summer doesn’t like her fries saggy,” added Red. “That’s fine. More food for my stomach!” said Bren laughing out loud. TEN MINUTES LATER . . At the rooftop I reached the sanctuary that Summer was saying. It’s only six levels up, the rooftop is on the 7th floor. When the elevator opened I saw an empty space. Looking to the left was a glass walled room that seemed to be a music room. I can see the drum set and keyboard from afar. To the right outside the room was a swing set and a garden with different shades of petunias, an orchid stand and in the middle were three flower pots of tulips. They are all hypoallergenic flowers. Is this her secret place? I also saw a telescope to the left of the glass walled room. When I entered the room, Summer was sound asleep on the sleeper sofa. The room was equipped with furniture and fixtures. It is more like a cozy loft—one studio condominium. “Where can I put these?” I asked Nadine. “On the kitchen table, please. Thanks Stormie!” “Where’s the boys?” “In the boys den. Go walk towards the bathroom. To the left is where they are.” I found the boys playing Wii seated in the theater like recliners. Inside the den is a flat screen television, a receiver and a subwoofer. Two bunk beds on the corner of the room. “Do you guys live here?” “No, we don't. We have an apartment. Although, Summer stays here longer than her house.” “Oh! Good to know!” I answered Red. A few minutes after I heard Summer screaming angrily. “Devin Storme! You punk! I’ll kill you!” We all rushed to the kitchen. As soon as she saw she punched me hard on my stomach that I almost lost my balance. “Why did you put hot sauce on my spag?” My lips moved into a smile, laughing deeply. “Because you kept me waiting for you at the ladies’ room.” “I swear, Storme! I swear! You’ll get it three folds! Come over here and eat this. I hate wasting food!” Earlier, as soon as the boys left. I asked the cafeteria attendant to put hot sauce on Summer’s spaghetti and red peppers flakes on her fries.
