Alexis didn’t completely relax until they stepped out onto the street and headed to Caden’s car. Theo and Sean followed with the dogs, heading to Theo’s SUV. “Lex.” She paused, turning back to see her father had followed, and asked, “Dad?” He stepped down to the sidewalk where Alexis waited and said, “Your mother told me about your eyes.” She bowed her head, nodding, embarrassed for some reason. Alexis knew the moment she told her mother that her father finding out was inevitable. Why then did this take her by surprise? “Lex.” She looked up to see a pained look in her father’s gaze. Without a word, he wrapped her in a firm hug. Shaking, she leaned into him.
