Chapter Five

We had history class that morning. We had history classes for both supernatural history and the human history. It was great to see how both worlds interpreted the same events so differently. Hanna, Amanda and I had the same history period so we would combine our desks and sit together. Mr Stewart, the history teacher - handsome as ever, tall, nice chiselled jaw, always spotting a morning beard, honey and gold eyes with sandy blond hair hanging just above his shoulders- didn't mind it at all and let us have our way because we paid attention and participated in his class. "Good morning everyone. Today we shall be studying" he stopped for dramatic effect, "the history of Jeswing. What exactly is the true essence of Jeswing? How did Jeswing come to be? Who are the founders of this school that we love so much" most students started whispering in disagreement to his statement making Mr Stewart laughed he knew how to ruffle their feathers "Moving on. We all know, mostly from the speech given to us every year by our lovely headmistress, that Jeswing was created as a home for those who were previously known as misfits. People would come here to learn how to channel their special gifts and how to live normally amongst the humans. But before all of that this place only came to existence because of this lady," he held up a picture of Lady Rosaline which peeked my interest. "this particular Lady here had a special gift. She was part witch and part vampire. She is known to be the first that could manipulate matter in more ways than any other witch could she had the strength ten times more than a normal vampire, there were even talk of her having the power of omnikinesis. She was simply spectacular but not everyone thought so. Word got out about her incredible strength and abilities especially at the young age that she was at that time. The previous generation of our people, let's call them the "originals" okay, so the original families of our kind thought this was strange. It was something they had never experienced something of such nature was beyond their comprehension. So naturally as we all know, we feared what we do not know and that’s exactly what they did. They chose to see all the harm she could do and thought that she was a threat" "They decided that the best way to keep themselves safe was to eliminate the threat. They once set out to her home and threatened her parents to either let them have her or they all die. Her parents having heard of their plans prior to their arrival had sent Lady Rosaline out to an island far away to stay with a relative. There it is said that she educated herself amongst other gifted people who having learnt what she is decided to worship her instead of try to kill her. "Lady Rosaline is said to have spent her entire teen-age years and early adulthood in this Isla which is now known as Jeswing. She would teach people and people would teach her, she studied her abilities helped young people in channelling their powers and most importantly how to live peacefully with the human race and that was the first step to how this school was established. Until one day word got out about her where she was hiding. "Plenty of people had now heard about the miraculous Lady Rosaline and many of them still ragged war against her. So she and some of the community leaders met with the opposition. It is not really documented as to where the meeting took place and how many people attended not many people recall this part. Nonetheless, we proceed knowing that the opposition had agreed that they would fight to the death as they refused to accept Lady Rosaline. They still thought she was a threat that needed to be eliminated. The originals had brought in people from all places. They took over some parts of the land to settle themselves before the war began. Powerful and respected beings came here, exactly where this building is located now and were trained and pushed to their limits so to win against their opponents. "Lady Rosaline had gain the support of the locals, she had manage to gather a large army who were willing to fight till their death for her, for they had understood and believed that she was of no harm. They had decided to hold the battle at the lake of Mauwa which is behind where the main building is now. "It was indeed a fierce battle. Many lost their homes and many lost their lives. Lady Rosaline couldn't handle seeing so many people loose their lives over her. So she called for a cease fire. She as well as the leader's chosen representative Maxwell Melaine then decided upon a truce. She was to leave the country and go to a place far away, away from any supernaturals or any humans no contact with anyone, she was to be exiled completely with no form of contact and in return no harm would come to her nor her people. "So the lady agreed, she was to leave the very next day but that journey never happened because our Lady Rosaline was found dead in her room the next morning" Mr Stewart looked around the classroom. Some students had fallen asleep so he casually and very loudly dropped his history book on the table causing most of them to jolt up Amanda being on of them. "Any questions" He asked cheekily I lifted my hand to ask, "Did they ever find out who killed her?" "You think she was assassinated. " "She sounds like the type of person who would keep her word so my guess is the 'originals' didn't keep their word and killed her at night. She was half vamp so definitely took someone skilled and powerful to end her." "That could be right her cause of death is never mentioned. So for your essay topic, dear class, I want your view on this war and its impact on our lives today. It's due first thing next week." Everyone got up quickly when the bell went off I went to Mr Stewart to get an answer I didn't have the guts to ask out loud." Mr Stewart what was her last name. " He turns back a few pages in his book and scans for it. "ah here it is. Johanna, Rosaline Johanna" My heart did a little flip at that, I nodded at him feeling dazed and walked out if the class joining Amanda and Hanna. "Are you okay" Hanna asks placing a hand on my shoulder. I nodded steering my thoughts away from the topic. We walked past a few people and once again I felt eyes just staring at me. I searched my surrounding area and caught sight of the same ice blue eyes staring deep into me. If I wasn't so shaken up I could've sworn that I saw concern pass through his eyes before he stormed off.
