Amelia’s POV The morning light streams through the windows, warm and bright, but it does little to ease the tension coiling in my chest. Even the usual morning chaos of the triplets, Tammy tripping over her own feet, Tommy loudly declaring some imagined victory, Theo tugging at Ryan’s sleeve, cannot fully distract me from the gnawing knot of unease. I sip my coffee slowly, forcing myself to breathe, but my thoughts are elsewhere, spinning around the message Peter sent just as I woke. I glance at Ryan, who is trying to corral the children with gentle patience, his brow furrowed in concentration.
