You will not dare to touch me!

Amelia's POV "Do any of you dare lay a hand on me? My parents sacrificed their claim to the Black Lake Pack to stand with you. They should have been there, ruling beside my grandfather, but they chose this pack. Chose you." My voice sharpened, each word a blade. "Would you truly imprison the granddaughter of Black Lake's Alpha? Do you seek war, after all my family has done for you? How many times did my grandfather save you? How many battles did his warriors fight in your name?" "He did it for me. Not for you. And you—all of you—stood silent while your Alpha betrayed me. You knew. You watched him take that… that woman into his bed while I defended your borders, managed your finances, fed your families, taught your children." I turned my gaze to Lucas, cold and unyielding. My hands trembled, but my voice did not. "I was more than your Luna. I was your shield. Your provider. And you cast me aside for a shadow like Leona." I looked him in the eye, my heart a stone. "The only time you ever sought me out was to use my body for an heir. You would only come to my room when I was in it so that we could produce an heir for this pack! I was never your mate. Only your breeding machine." I trembled with a fury that ran deeper than fear. They took my baby from me in my previous life. They threw me into a cell and watched me break down. I would not let it happen again. If they locked me away now, Leona would seize her chance to finish what she started. She would destroy me, and the life I carried within me. But this time, I was ready to fight. To die, if I must, but never to kneel. I am stronger than Lucas. Stronger than his guards. Stronger than any wolf who stands against me now. Because I have something worth fighting for—a future. A child. A reason. They fight for power. For pride. For nothing. I gave up everything for this pack, even my chance at a true mate. I have sacrificed a mate because I know Lucas is not my chosen mate. The only reason we got married was because of politics and my father and mother putting pressure on me to marry the alpha because of my grandfather and his back being so much stronger than any other pack associated with any potential mates for Lucas. This time… I fight for myself. Leona stepped forward, a smirk twisting her perfectly painted lips as she ran a manicured hand through her hair. Her eyes gleamed with mock pity as she looked the former Luna up and down. "What does it matter if he only visited during your heat?" she purred, her voice dripping with false sweetness. She leaned in closer, the scent of her expensive perfume clashing with the tension in the air. "It's not like you ever gave this pack what it truly needed." Her gaze dropped meaningfully to the other woman's abdomen, a cruel smile playing on her lips. "All those nights, all those opportunities... and still, no heir. What good is a Luna who can't even fulfill her most basic duty?" She tossed her hair over her shoulder, the movement deliberately dramatic. "At least I understand what an Alpha truly deserves." "Shut up, Leona!" My voice cut through the hall like winter wind. "Until tonight, you were nothing more than Lucas's mistress. You hold no rank here. Your father leads the weakest pack in the region—a fact known to every wolf with ears. He has stagnated in power and prestige. And you think you have the right to speak in pack affairs?" I turned my gaze to Lucas, my words sharp as shattered ice. “You would imprison me for her? A female who has given this pack nothing? I have fought beside your warriors for years. Defended these lands. Been praised as the finest Luna these territories have known.” My voice dropped, heavy with disdain. "You are a weak Alpha, Lucas. Easily swayed, forever distracted. Leona may be your true mate, but had you shown even a shred of honor, I would have stepped aside. Instead, you humiliated me. Let your pack laugh behind my back while you share her bed. How many of them have laughed behind my back, knowing that you were sleeping with a woman like Leona?" I stood tall, my pride a shield. "But no more." "Enough!" Lucas's voice thundered through the hall, his eyes blazing with Alpha authority. "You overestimate your importance. This pack does not need you! It needs a Luna who knows her place." He drew Leona closer, his gaze cold and dismissive. "She will become everything you failed to be. A true mate, blessed by the Moon Goddess. I will show the whole world that Leona can be a better Luna than you will ever be. Perhaps she can even give me the heir that you could never give me. So what if you have stronger political ties than Leona has?" A bitter smile twisted his lips. "You were always more warrior than wife. More protector than partner. What use is a Luna who puts her pack before her mate? A happy Alpha makes a strong pack. And you… you never made me happy." "Shouldn't an Alpha put his pack before his own desires?" My voice rang clear, unwavering. "Did you not vow to sacrifice everything for them when you took command? Yet here you stand, placing your own happiness above the very wolves you swore to protect. That is why you will always be a weak Alpha. I gave my all to you, to this pack, to our people. You can throw me in jail, but I will not go willingly. Some vows are worth fighting for." "Grab her!" Lucas commanded, his voice sharp with impatience. "I am your Alpha. Why do you hesitate?" The guards advanced, their movements cautious but determined. They are ready to come after me. But I am ready to fight them because I'm not going to go to that hellhole again, and I'm not going to allow Leona to kill my baby. They don't have to know about my baby. Not this time. I will not allow them to kill my child. Not again. I did not crawl out of hell for nothing! One of the guards tries to grab me, but I slip past his grip and kick him in the stomach. He falls over and cries out in pain. It makes Lucas furious. The crowd around the stage gasps because they did not expect me to fight back. They did not expect me to lay my hands on my own people because I was always the one looking after them and protecting them, but this time I am fighting them. Because I would not lose this baby. Not again. Lucas's roar thundered through the gathering. "Guards! Seize her! Throw her in the dungeons!" In an instant, warriors and guards alike surged toward me. They were too many—too strong. My gaze swept across the pack, searching for one familiar face, one sign of loyalty in the sea of turned heads. But no one met my eyes. A single tear traced a cold path down my cheek. Had I fought my way back from death only to face it again—alone? No. I did not claw my way back from hell to kneel again. The wolf in my blood awakened, claws extending as a low growl rumbled in my chest. Let them come. I would teach them what it meant to cross a Luna who had already faced death. "Not so fast." The voice cut through the tension like a blade. My gaze lifted to meet that of a tall, imposing figure standing at the edge of the crowd, three small children clustered close beside him. The air itself seemed to still in his presence.
