Charlette’s P.O.V.
“She is right, Char. Emanuel is obviously out of our league. Associating ourselves with him will only bring problems and dangers for us,” Mona replied to me with a serious expression while walking towards the main building of the school from the main entrance.
I reached here early and waited outside for her.
She also did the same for me if she reaches early.
“I know, Mona, and I have no desire to associate myself with him. Sometimes, I think that Mom is right. Boys are nothing but trouble,” I said to her in a careless manner, but I was serious about this matter.
I tightened my grip on the strap of my bag, hanging on my right shoulder when I felt a pang of disappointment.
Emanuel was really handsome, and as Mom said, having a crush isn’t that bad, right?
“Right. So, let’s stay away from them as far as possible.” She said resolutely, and I also jerked my head in agreement.
We both looked at each other and grinned widely.
Because of my mother’s work, I wasn’t allowed to be friends with anyone.
In the beginning, I felt wronged, but after a few bad experiences, I understood this restriction very well, broke off with all those so-called fake friends.
Mona was an exception because her family had a media house, and also two of her uncles were in govt departments.
She wrapped her hand around my arm while entering the building.
In my peripheral vision, I noticed Adam and Natalie, but I ignored him completely.
It was no surprise to me that Natalie was still with Adam.
“A b***h and a trash, belong to each other,” Mona muttered under her breath, but I just bumped my shoulder into her.
“I really can’t help myself but curse them for what they did to you, Char. I know that you don’t have so deep feelings, but he not only betrayed you but kept those photos to blackmail you. Can you imagine what could he demand from you?” Mona ranted angrily, stopping in front of our lockers.
“I admitted that it really stung, but do you really think that I would have let him take advantage of me?” I asked her arrogantly.
She glared at me at first but grinned immediately.
“No.” she replied, and I laughed with her while shaking my head.
“By the way, your math and chemistry notebook is with Emanuel. What will you tell the teachers when they ask you for the homework?” she asked me curiously and I groaned while slumping my shoulders.
I immediately spun on my heel to look for Emanuel around us, but hit my nose straight into a muscular chest, right behind me.
What the f**k was that?
I hissed in pain, and almost stumbled, but got my balance immediately. I looked up angrily, and I froze when his handsome, and cold face appeared in front of me, his cold hazel-green eyes locking on me.
I blinked in bewilderment, trying to process what just happened.
How could he walk so stealthily?
“God, Emanuel! You should have made some sound to notify me that you are standing right behind me.” I yelled at him while patting my chest, but internally trying to calm my freaking heart down.
He didn’t say it but looked at me coldly. I don’t know why, but his hazel-green eyes looked more mesmerized with this cold expression.
He had my notebooks raised towards me. I snatched my notebooks from his hand while glaring hard at him.
“Your home is done.” He said to me coldly, and I surprised my brows in surprise, opening the math notebook immediately.
He walked away while I checked my homework.
“What the f**k,” Mona exclaimed in shock, and I pursed my lips into a thin line.
My eyes were now glued on the page where the page was filled with the content in my writing, but it wasn’t me who wrote it.
I checked other pages and opened the chemistry notebook. My jaw clenched when I saw that he did the whole homework in my writing.
“He is really a trouble,” Mona whispered, worry evident in her voice.
“And I am adamant to stay away from the troubles,” I replied resolutely.
She still had that worried look, but there was nothing that we could do right now.
I moved towards my locker and took a deep breath.
It’s not about copying my handwriting.
It’s about how wrong it can go in the future.
After working with my mother for a year, I learned one important lesson is to stay vigilant about some very personal things, and handwriting is one of them.
I had three periods in a row. So, I put everything that I needed for these periods in my bag and closed the locker.
“Hey, Char.” I felt sick to my stomach when Natalie called me in a very sick and sweet voice.
“What, Natalie? Are you trying to give me diabetes?” I asked her while faking a horrified expression.
Her smile immediately faltered, and she glared at me.
I looked around and raised my brows.
“Already got rid of your boy toy?” I asked her sarcastically, which made her grit her teeth.
Mona giggled beside me, earning a sharp glare from Natalie, but Natalie immediately looked at me.
“I need to talk to you….. Privately.” Natalie demanded and I scoffed.
I grabbed Mona’s arm and looked at Natalie from head to toe.
“We have nothing to talk, Natalie. So, please don’t bother me,” I replied to her nonchalantly and was about to take a step forward when she grabbed my arm tightly.
“What the f**k is wrong with you?” I yanked my hand from her grip and glared hard at her.
“Nat.” I groaned angrily and stormed away with Mona when I heard Adam calling Natalie from I don’t know where.
“I am sure this is about those videos.” Mona whispered to me, sounding anxious.
“We know nothing, Mona, and you know very well how these things work. Clean your mind, and think that you have amnesia. You don’t know what they are talking about.” I instructed her in a low and stern voice.
“It’s easy to say.” She whispered, rubbing her palms anxiously.
“You are giving yourself away by showing this anxiety, okay. So, calm down, and yes…. You don’t know a thing.” I warned her once again, glancing around me to see if anyone was looking at us or not.
What a start to the day.
First, that hand-writing incident..
Then Natalie’s approach.
I was sure that this won’t be the last time. Natalie was like a targeted rocket that would fly until it hit the target.
But I was now worried about Mona. She was a good hacker, and knew some self-defense too, but dealing with more than two people will be a worry for her.
Above all, Natalie also knew self-defense and, in comparison to Natalie, Mona's physical strength was like a fragile sheep in front of a wolf.
We reached our first class and entered together, but stopped abruptly when I was Emanuel sitting on our seat.
He had his eyes closed as if he were sleeping, but I knew this posture very well.
He wasn’t sleeping. This was to tell people DON’T APPROACH ME.
“I am going to ask him to go somewhere else,” I replied to her with a grim expression and was about to walk up when she yanked my hand back, making me look at her in confusion.
“Are you crazy?” she yelled at me in whispers, glancing at Emanuel fearfully from time to time.
“He is in our seat. What’s wrong with asking him to go somewhere else?” I asked her in a hushed voice, still confused by her outburst.
“It… it’s not like you will be his girlfriend or his chick if you sit beside her, right?” she asked, still whispering, but her eyes were still flickering rapidly.
“Then you sit there, I will go to the back,” I suggested, and she tightened her grip on my hand again.
“This is not going to happen, honey.” She replied and, before I could say anything in protest, she grinned and bolted towards the last vacant seat.
“Hey, Mona.” I yelled at her, exasperated by her action.
We weren't late for class, but I knew the sequence of the remaining seats.
I didn't want to sit with any of the deskmates on those seats.
With a loud huff, I marched towards my seat and put the bag on the desk with a thud.
To my dismay, Emanuel didn't show any reaction, fueling my anger more.
I sat down and took the bag again. I almost fought with the zipper to open the bag.
We still had some time before the teacher came. So, I decided to revise the previous part that the teacher explained to us yesterday.
"Is it you or your friend who reset his phone?" my heart almost stopped beating when Emanuel asked me in a very low and cold voice.
