“You know, Carter, I don’t need you to escort me everywhere anymore,” Sarah said to him as they were walking through the corridor toward the elevator.
“You might not think so, but your cousin is adamant that you not be alone for a while. After last week's press conference, your cousin is afraid of retaliation against you. Not that I blame her for being concerned.”
“My grandparents are harmless. The only thing that was damaged on their end was their pride and egos. My ex, now, he’s a different story. You saw how he was with me just because I refused to take him back.”
“Stop me if I’m overstepping here, but do you still have lingering feelings for him? I mean, you were married for several years,” Cartner gingerly asked.
