Chapter 21

Yasmyn's POV

I pulled away from the kiss and scanned my surroundings. I am in my office and luckily, no one enters the room without my permission.

"What?" He asked and pulled me for another kiss but I resisted.

I shook my head and sat back, making him pout and sit back in his own seat.

"What brings you here though?" I asked him with my eyebrows raised.

I thought he would be gone by now considering he is a Rogue and this pack doesn't accommodate Rogues well even if I tell them that it's my order.

"I was waiting for your brother's signal. For him to tell me that the route is clear to leave but that never came," He shrugged and I nodded.

Yeah. Well. He is in hospital making sure he lives just to see me as the Queen.

"And imagine my surprise when I found out that Alpha Brendan Rivera is your mate. How did that happen?" Colton asked me.

Now that's the part I don't want to talk about. No matter how much I think that what I am doing now is different and the reason for rejection is petty, it still doesn't erase the fact that it hurts. It hurts a lot!

I simply stared at Colton. He can be a good rebound. But what I had with him was intimate on its own. I had a lot of good times and I cannot use that as a rebound.

On the other hand, Brendan is different. He makes my blood boil and yet I search for him when I am in a room full of people. Especially the last few days where I was alone dealing with stuff, he was there.

He was the one who opposed a meeting with the Rogues though. Okay. Well. And now he is standing out because I asked him to guard and make sure no one walks in.

"Maybe it's time that you and your brother leave. I have so much to plan and the coronation is postponed. I'll let you know when it takes place again," I told him and he raised his eyebrows at me, in utter surprise.

I hung my head low, trying to focus on the documents in my hand. But I cannot seem to do so.

"Alright. If you say so," Colton said and stood up.

I lifted my head to say good bye but he surprised me with a kiss.

And at the exact same time, the door opened and Brendan walked in.

And he looked at me kissing The Rogue King.

And I felt a pang in my heart. Probably because of the mate bond.

And just like that... He stormed out of the office.
