They had someone fix the door while we were out today. We haven’t talked about it, but I know Ada noticed. We ate together like she wanted, and she was happy.
It was not the kind of happiness I’ve felt through the bond, where she’s still scared or uncomfortable. It was pure joy, nothing else. I glance down the hall, wondering what Ada wants to do tonight, but I’m too afraid to ask. Thankfully, a knock at the door distracts me, and I open it to find Mrs. Audrey.
