I shouldn’t have stayed so close to the room. I did step away once I heard her actually talking to Seth, but not before I heard her say she wasn’t alright. She was scared, and she doesn’t plan to tell me.
I’m sure she realized I heard when I tucked her into my side. I need to protect her and between overhearing that and knowing that she knows of David’s theory, it’s too much. I don’t think I’ll be able to let her out of my sight today.
“Go ahead and go,” Seth tells us. “I’ll talk to Rose. She’s not going home until tomorrow.”
Ada stands and offers me her hand. I let her help me stand, towering over her as she smiles sadly. “We need to talk.”
