I play with Calvin’s messy hair as he sleeps. It’s rare that he ever falls asleep before me, but it’s also rare that he cries—my sweet, broken boy who hides in the large man lying on top of me.
I’d always worried my mate would reject me because I was the useless daughter. I never dreamed I’d have a mate that’s as broken as I am. I linked him and told him he’d never be alone again, but I didn’t realize what it would mean to him. If I had known, I’d have asked him to mark me the moment he found me.
