Captain Bligh lived in one of those turning points of history that are called golden ages. The Perdenneh were bursting out into space, exploring the stars, building artificial worlds like Losha, settling colonies on other planets. It must have been a bright and exciting time to be alive.
Then they encountered the Rapatho, the only other space-faring race they’d met. Initial hopes for interspecies contact and culture were dashed, though. The Rapatho were evolved from swarming insects, and there was as much chance of having cultural exchanges with them as with a swarm of locusts. They were aggressive and uncooperative, and fighting ensued almost immediately.
