Letter 12 Hi Bianca, The next-to-last chapter of Oliver Twist is entitled “Fagin’s Last Night Alive.” You might wonder why I mention this, since I know you haven’t read it. I read it last year even though I’d already read another Dickens book for class last semester, David Copperfield. This chapter made me cry, and I generally hate that. I hate crying at fiction. I mean, these aren’t real flesh-and-blood people who actually die, not like Aunt Wendy who was alive one day and dead the next. With fictional characters, you can just turn back a few pages and there they are, as alive again as ever. But I cried when I read that chapter. All three times. I’ll get to my reasons for mentioning that chapter in a few minutes. Let’s just say I’ve been doing my share of crying in the past day or so,
