It felt like I was floating, weightless and free. The pain was gone, replaced by a strange sensation of lightness. I couldn’t feel my body anymore—only a gentle breeze carrying me higher and higher. When I opened my eyes, I found myself in a vast, endless plain. Soft, wispy clouds surrounded me, stretching out as far as I could see. They were a pure white, tinged with hints of silver and blue, glowing softly against a backdrop of twilight. The sky above was a deep, endless indigo, dotted with twinkling stars. It was a place of ethereal beauty, a realm that felt both dreamlike and real.
I continued to float, drifting aimlessly, lost in this strange world. “Where am I?” I whispered to myself, my voice sounding distant and hollow. I remembered Logan’s betrayal, his cold eyes, and the pain of his hands around my throat.
And then, I saw her.
A figure of radiant light appeared before me, standing amidst the clouds. She was beautiful, more beautiful than anything I had ever seen. Her skin glowed like the moon itself, shimmering with an otherworldly light that cast gentle shadows on the ground. Her hair was a cascade of silver, flowing down her back in waves, and it seemed to move with a life of its own, like a river of starlight. Her eyes were a deep, infinite blue, filled with wisdom and kindness, yet there was a fierce power within them.
She wore a gown of pure white, adorned with silver threads that sparkled like stars in the night sky. Around her head was a crown of crescent moons, each one glowing softly, casting a halo around her. She radiated a calm, comforting energy, and I felt my fear and confusion melt away in her presence. I knew who she was, even before she spoke.
“I am the Moon Goddess,” she said, her voice soft like a melody carried on the wind. It was a voice that resonated deep within me, soothing and powerful all at once. “I know what has happened to you, Alyssa. I have seen the injustice done to you.”
Her words brought a flood of emotions crashing over me—anger, sadness, betrayal. Tears filled my eyes as I remembered Logan’s coldness, his lies, the pain he had caused me. “Why?” I choked out, my voice trembling. “Why did this happen? I thought he was my mate. I thought we were meant to be together.”
The Moon Goddess smiled, a gentle, knowing smile that seemed to hold a thousand secrets. “Sometimes, things are not as they seem, child,” she said softly. “Not all who are chosen as mates understand the bond they share. Not all are worthy of the love they are given.”
I looked up at her, searching for answers in her deep blue eyes. “What do I do now? I am lost. I don’t know what to do.”
The Moon Goddess stepped closer, her light enveloping me in warmth and comfort. “I have brought you here to offer you a choice. You have been wronged, Alyssa. Betrayed by the one who should have cherished you above all else. But I can give you a chance—a chance to return to the mortal realm, to seek justice for what has been done to you.”
“You mean... I can go back? I can make him pay for what he did?”
The Moon Goddess nodded. “Yes, but know this: the path of revenge is a dark one, filled with many dangers. You must be strong, Alyssa. Stronger than you have ever been. Your journey will not be easy, but if your heart is true, if your will is strong, you will find the justice you seek.”
I looked at her. I knew that this was not going to be easy but I couldn’t let Logan get away with what he had done. I had to fight. I had to return. “I will do it. I will go back. I will make him pay for what he did to me.”
The Moon Goddess smiled. “Very well,” she said and raised her hand. “Prepare yourself, Alyssa. Your journey is about to begin.”
As her light grew brighter and enveloped me completely, I felt a surge of power flowing through my body. I closed my eyes and braced myself for what was to come.
When I opened my eyes, I found myself standing in the middle of a grand ballroom, surrounded by music and laughter. My head spun with the sudden change, and for a moment, I felt disoriented. As I blinked and looked around, I realized that I knew this place.
The ballroom was filled with people, all dressed in their finest clothes, their faces alight with joy and excitement. Women twirled in beautiful gowns of every color. Men in sharp suits and tuxedos stood in small groups, talking and laughing, glasses of champagne in their hands. The chandeliers overhead sparkled brightly.
I looked down at myself and saw that I was wearing a red velvet dress. The fabric was soft and luxurious against my skin. My breath caught in my throat. I remembered this dress. I remembered this night. My heart began to race as the realization hit me—I had been sent back to the night I had met Logan for the first time.
It was the ball, the celebration of the packs. The night that had changed everything.
My eyes darted around the room, searching for familiar faces. Everything was just as I remembered—the decorations, the music, the laughter. I could see the Alpha and Luna of another pack talking by the grand staircase, their heads bent close together in conversation. To my left, a group of young women giggled and whispered to each other.
And then, I saw him.
Logan stood with his friends, holding a glass of whiskey in his hand. He looked just as he had that night—tall, broad-shouldered, and commanding, with an aura of power that drew everyone’s attention. His dark hair was perfectly styled, and his blue eyes sparkled. He was laughing at something one of his friends had said, his lips curled into a confident smile.
He had fooled me once with that smile, with those eyes that seemed to hold so much promise. But now I knew better. Now I could see through the lies and the deceit.
I watched as he took a sip of his drink, his gaze sweeping across the room, completely unaware of my presence. My hands clenched into fists at my sides. The memory of his betrayal was still fresh, the pain of his hands around my throat still vivid in my mind. But now, I had a chance to change everything. A chance to rewrite the past.
