Lana's POV
I felt relieved when I stepped inside of my bedroom. I do not like the fact that my father just rushes over here to check up on me when something has happened. He needs to let me be, he has other kids at home that need more of his attention, not me. I huffed out a breath as I moved towards my bed and I plopped down onto it, lying on my back. I took my phone, Arden called me five times, my phone was on vibrate.
I don't want my dad to see Arden, they probably know each other, but we have to be careful. So I text Arden.
Me: My dad will be leaving tomorrow, so you can't come over to my place, especially since Cynthia is living across the street.
Arden: I have a plan and I want to see you. Which side is your bedroom?
Me: Why?
Why is he asking where my bedroom is?
Arden: Answer the question.
Me: Right side.
I wonder what he is planning. I can smell food, which means that my dad is cooking. He always cooked. I stood up from my bed and as I walked out of my bedroom, there was a knock on the door and my heart began to beat at a rapid pace, hoping that it's not Arden. My dad walked towards the front door and I stood glued to my spot.
He opened the door. "Oh, Mr Stern, I'm here to see Lana." I let out a breath when I heard that it was Cynthia.
My dad opened the door further. "She is in her bedroom," he said as he stepped out of the way to allow her inside. I made my way into the lounge. Cynthia was red in the face, she was blushing and smiling like a teenager.
My dad went back to the kitchen. " I dropped these off and your car," she said, handing my car keys over to me and I took them from her. "We finished with class earlier today, Professor Moses was not paying too much attention to the work, but more on Brady." she said.
"Thanks for the keys," I said," I won't say anything about Arden and Brady, it is just between us.
"You didn't tell me that your dad is back," she whispered to me.
"I didn't know either, it was a surprise." I shrugged.
"Something smells great," she said.
"My dad is making dinner,"
"I had better get going then." she replied.
"See you tomorrow and stay safe." I called out to her.
"Will do," she said as she left.
"Stay safe about what?" I closed my eyes as I heard my dad behind me. I swear that he pops up everywhere around me.
I turned around to face him, "Boyfriend," I stated.
"The food is ready," he said, and I walked into the kitchen. The food was on our plates already; steak and salad. I always loved my dad's cooking. I sit down at the table and my dad joins me.
"I miss this," I said as I cut through the steak.
"I miss having dinner with all of you. You are my everything, Lana. Since you were born, I didn't want anything to happen to you and I made sure to always be around. Your grandmother wasn't always around for me when I grew up, but your grandfather was. I felt lonely, but then being with your mother changed everything. I never thought that I would ever have such a big family," he said with a little smile as he looked down at his plate.
"Sometimes, you just have to let us go." I stated and that made him look up at me again. "You cannot treat us as if we are still little kids, eventually all the others will be grown and you cannot cling onto them, being afraid if we get hurt and what life throws our way. You have to let go, dad" I said.
"I know, it's just really hard. You will understand one day when you have kids of your own," he said.
"So you are okay with me having a boyfriend?" I asked.
"No, not any time soon," he said with a glare.
"Got it, and dad, I don't think that I want kids. I want to focus on myself and what I am working hard towards," I state.
"Sternpoint," he said as he chewed.
I let out a sigh. "Yes. Do you know Professor Moses?" I asked.
"Yes, I do. He is your professor, is he treating you okay?" he asked.
"Yes, more than okay. He has been helping me with my panic attacks-"
"Is it still so bad?" he asked with concern.
"Yes, but professor Moses has helped me through it. He said that he has experience with these kinds of things. So he is a really great professor when I have no one around." I said.
" That's a good thing," he replied.
"Do you know him from being on the board?" I tried to find out how well my dad knows him and how careful we should be.
"Not too well, but he is a great professor and he cares a lot for his students. He is highly recommended in New York when it comes to teaching Business, that is why at NYU Stern, I have asked him to join. He is the best and, therefore, I was happy when you decided that you wanted to study in New York because Moses was already here. He helped many students that were struggling with business and they are flourishing in life, so we made a good choice." he smiled at me.
"Then I'm glad too," I returned his smile. I remember that Arden mentioned to me that he could help me in a different way besides getting extra credit by having s^x. That alone tells me that not everything is about s^x when it comes to him. He cares and I feel it. I am starting to have more feelings for him, but I should keep it at bay.
****
It was evening, and I went to my bedroom. I switched on the light and then nearly jumped out of my skin when there was a tapping on my bedroom window. With my hand against my chest, I walked towards the window and I pulled open the curtain. I opened up the window. "Arden?" I whispered.
"Can I come inside?" he asked me. I stepped out of the way and he climbed through the window and inside of the bedroom. He had on a navy blue hoodie. He still has on his dress pants. He looked at me with a little smile as if he was happy to see me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked
"I told you that I had a plan. I wanted to see you," he said as he moved closer to me. He cupped both sides of my face with his hands and he leaned down, his lips pressed against mine as I closed my eyes. He deepens the kiss and I let him. Parting my lips for air, his tongue slides into my mouth and I moan. My hands were holding onto his arms. I can get used to this, I feel my core throbbing with want. I just wish that we had s^x already but my dad is in the guest room and that thought alone made me pull away.
"Are you okay?" he asked as I walked towards my bed and I sat down.
"Yes, I am. It's a little risky with my dad here," I said. He sat down next to me.
"If the door is locked then he won't come inside. I just wanted to see you. I am still working on getting Brady transferred but I need to have a good reason and its not an easy one," he lets out a heavy sigh.
"What do you mean?" I asked. "Oh, my door isn't locked."
"Either you inform the board or your father about what has happened, then he can get transferred or he won't be able to attend any university based on your complaint. I am afraid that I cannot do more, my hands are tied, and I am keeping your promise. I won't tell anyone unless you want me to," he said.
"My dad cannot know about this," I said.
"Then he won't. I can't do anything but only keep a watchful eye over you and try to protect you from him." he said sympathetically.
"Cynthia said that he spoke to her. I warned her that he isn't a nice person and she wouldn't listen to me. Maybe that could help if he tries something with her." I said.
He nodded, "That could help."
"Let's hope that Cynthia doesn't fall for him. I want to protect her too," I let out a sigh.
"I will keep an eye out." he said.
There was a knock on my door and I jumped up from my bed as my heart began to race. "Lana, can I come inside?" my dad asked from the other side of the door.
"You have to leave." I whispered-shouted at Arden as he stood up and I followed after him as he climbed out the window and he hurried away as I closed the window.
"You can come inside!" I called out.
The door opened and I turned around, my back facing the window. My dad walked inside. "I just wanted to make sure that you were okay. I won't see you tomorrow afternoon, you will be in class." he said.
" I'm fine," I gave a fake smile.
"You can always call me when you need me. I will be here in a heartbeat," he said as he moved closer to me and he wrapped his arms around me.
"I will." I replied.
"I love you," he placed a kiss on the top of my head.
"I love you too, dad." I said as I pulled away from him.
"I know that you will make me proud and I know that Moses will help you in the best way that he can." he smiled.
" I'm sure that he will." I already know how he will help me. Two methods, the extra credit for s^x and the non-s^xual way.
My dad walked out of my bedroom. I actually missed home. When I was young, my dad would tuck us in bed and read stories. I was more fascinated with sketches. He didn't seem to be very interested in them. I still love him, I still care about him, but he can be suffocating. The reason why I chose to attend university here, was because I wanted to get away from home, especially my dad. He has high hopes and expectations from me and I just have to accept that.
I will try to make him proud, but it will be hard. I know that Arden will not let me down when it comes to helping me with business, as my dad has said that Arden is good at what he does. So I am eager to learn more from him. I have no doubt that Arden will look out for me and protect me from Brady.
Most importantly, we have to be careful and communicate more about these things, so that we will not be caught together. I still feel his lips on mine. I do want more with him, but he seems to be more caring than wanting a s^xual relationship with me. I should not allow my feelings to get attached if he still plans for us to only have a s^xual relationship, but I am willing to see how far this goes.
