Surprise Visit.

Lana's POV I had decided to take a walk to the clinic this morning, as my car is still on campus. Cynthia will bring it back later today. I got the pill as birth control. I am walking back to my apartment, the sun is scorching and I hope for some rain. My mind goes to Arden and how his morning might be going. I do hope that he gets to sort things out, because I feel that I wouldn't be able to be in class with Brady. I will be eagerly waiting for his call or text today. As I walked closer to my apartment, I saw my dad's car that he would usually drive around here in New York, parked out front. As I approach, he is leaning against his car as he types away on his phone. I left my phone on my bed because I didn't want to carry anything with me. "Dad?" I said and he looked up from his phone, he was dressed in blue jeans and a white t-shirt. He didn't seem impressed and I swallowed. Is this because of the millions of calls that I didn't answer yesterday? "What are you doing here?" he moved closer to me, putting his phone in his pocket. "I have been calling you and you haven't answered me," he hissed at me. I let out a sigh as I walked up the driveway. Honestly, I don't have time for this. "Care to tell me why you left campus yesterday?" he said. I opened my apartment door and I entered, my dad trailing behind me. "I wasn't feeling well, so I left." I said, turning around to face him. "Is that your medication?" he looked at the little brown paper bag in my hand. "Yes." I lied. "Am I not going to get a hug?" he asked me. Sighing, I moved towards him and he embraced me in his arms. He placed a kiss on the top of my head. "How are you feeling today?" he asked. "Okay, I guess," I pulled away and then I placed the brown paper bag on the coffee table. "So why are you here?" I asked "Would you like anything?" I asked. "No," he said as he took a seat on the sofa. "I was called yesterday because you left campus. I tried calling you but you didn't answer me. Do you have any idea how worried and pissed off I was?" he glared at me. "Can't I be sick in peace?," I lied. "You can't just come over here from Seattle when I do not answer your calls," I nodded, "I'm sorry. You are my little girl. I worry about you and about your siblings. You are the only one that isn't living under our roof and I cannot keep an eye on you or protect you." he said. " I'm a big girl, dad. I am doing just fine. I have a feeling that you told the university to keep an eye on me." I stated. "Yes, I don't want anything to happen," he said. "I will get myself some water, its scorching hot outside," I replied, and I walked into the kitchen to get myself a bottle of water. My dad is keeping tabs on me and I don't like that. He should set me free. That's the reason why I left home. I walked out of the kitchen as I took a sip of the water and then I froze. My eyes widen and my heart is beating at a rapid pace. My dad had the brown paper bag in his hands and he looked up at me with a glare. "What the f^ck is this?" he hissed at me. "My medication." "Cut the bullsh^t, Lana. These are birth control pills. Are you f^cking around? I raised you better than this," he threw the bag on the coffee table. He thinks that I'm f^cking around, wow...that is how low he thinks of me. "I am not sleeping around and even if I was, it is none of your business. Have you ever thought about females being on birth control to help with their period? You should know about mom when it comes to periods. Oh wait...you were making babies all the time." I huffed. I had to lie about what the birth control pills were for. I forgot that the type of birth control is on the receipt that is stapled to the bag. He read that. "That is between your mom and I." He let out a heavy breath. "Right," I said as I took a seat on the recliner. "Do you have any other work that you need to attend to here in New York?" I asked. "No, I just flew down when you didn't answer my calls," he said. "When do you go back?" I asked, hoping that he would leave soon. My dad and I usually don't see much eye to eye. We are arguing most of the time, therefore I try to keep the peace. "I am going back tomorrow, which means I'm staying here for the night." he smirked at me. "Well, you know where the guest bedroom is," I rolled my eyes. I didn't want him to even be here. "How is mom?" I asked. Mom was always trying to be the peacemaker between us. She is the light in everything and I miss her although I won't be telling her about what went on in my life all these years and she is a beautiful woman. I can see why my dad is always protective of her and all of us. "She is doing well. Her business is flourishing and we want one of your siblings to take over when she resigns in the future. I think that it would be Jordan. He has his own thing going on now, he wants to be a football player, so he can't see himself as a businessman." "I can't see myself as a businesswoman. I want to do what I love. I will fail at business and I will just be wasting your time." I said, hoping that he would change his mind. "My mind is set, Lana. You won't get out of it easily unless I'm dead." he said. He got up from the sofa and he walked down the hall. I let out a sigh. I tried. There was a knock on the door. I got up and opened the door. My eyes widened, my heart beating fast, I swear that I could've had two heart attacks today. "What are you doing here?" I whisper-shouted at Arden. He looked concerned and I closed the front door behind me, not allowing him inside. "I came here to check up on you. I have tried to call you and you wouldn't answer, so I ran away from campus seem that it's break time," he said. "You can't be here," I said. "Do you have someone with you?" he asked, looking at the door. "I saw a car here but I didn't think that you would actually have someone here." "My dad is here, so you should leave. He leaves tomorrow. I will text you later." I gave him a polite smile and then I got back inside, closing the door. I press my back against it with my eyes closed. "Boyfriend?" I opened my eyes and my dad was standing behind the recliner with a bottle of water in his hand, his usual glare in place. "A friend." I lied. My heart was still beating fast. "Then invite him tonight for dinner. I want to get to know him." "No, you won't. He has to study tonight. I will be in my room if you need me." I hurried past him and down the hall. That was a close call. Arden cannot just show up here, but then again, I need to keep my phone on me more often. Imagine my dad finding my professor visiting me. He would be pissed off and would want answers.
