Okafu sat from across Dr Mata in Ren’s office.
He’d left them there a few minutes ago, and Okafu wished that he had stayed.
Her therapist didn’t look happy with her.
“You went ahead and tried to remember,” she said staring her in the eyes. Okafu tried not to fidget in her chair.
“I needed to remember.”
“And did you?”
“Some…” she said her fingers sinking into her thighs as the horrors of the kidnapping played in her mind like a very scary horror film. She flinched. And closed her eyes shut.
“Okafu!” Dr Mata said her name, and she was suddenly very close to her. “Breathe through it, and count down from ten to one. Free your mind. Remember you’re safe...you’re safe…” the doctor said over and over. Her voice gaining strength the more she said it.
