I stood with the phone in my hand as I stared out of the window. Suddenly the question of who to call weighed on me. Erik or Tori? As much as I wanted to talk to Tori, I did need to reassure Erik that I was fine.

“Got it,” I said as I interrupted his little rant. I swallowed hard as my heart tightened. I had been gone for weeks with no explanation. And since I didn’t have my phone, I had no chance to message her or anything like that. Plus, I was well aware of the fact that my phone was on charge, which meant it wouldn’t shut off.
