I was doing my best to remain calm as I sat across from Adam at the bar. As always, the bar was dimly lit and not all that busy. The low hum of the background music and the clinking glasses did nothing to comfort me from the monster sitting right across from me. His eyes gleamed with charm, his smile was bright, and I hated how he pretended like he hadn’t been watching me. In reality, all I could think about was the fact that he was a monster.
“So, babe, what do you think about us making this…relationship…more permanent?” Adam asked as he leaned forward. I blinked as I stared at him.
