While Carl was still trying to study the intricacies of the magic circle he had just learned, the lich appeared once more. He tapped the air with his finger, causing a whirlpool to appear in the air. Icy cold raindrops fell from the whirlpool and completely drenched the young man.
Carl shuddered and stopped pretending to be unconscious. He opened his eyes and met the unfeeling flames burning in the lich’s eye sockets, then put on a confused but terrified expression. “Mr. Bryant! What just happened?”
The lich scoffed and summoned a large wave of Ghost Flames which threatened to engulf Carl. The young man stiffened up and thought that the lich had found out he had merely pretended to faint and was going to punish him for it. To his surprise, all the flames did was dry his clothes.
