Chapter 7

“By the time you wake up, you’ll have your wolf.”

I looked at her in shock. My wolf never came to the surface throughout my entire lifetime. Why would it happen now?

As if she could read my mind, she responded “Meeting your mate triggered the transition. Your usually supposed to wait till you turn 21. Except, Adrian brought your wolf to the surface, and they want out. There’s trouble coming your way, and you’re going to need your wolves when it does”.

I have a wolf? Wait, she said wolves. I have more than one? Holy crap.

****A few weeks have passed****

Everyday passes like a blur. I have gotten stronger both mentally and physically. The first couple of days were pretty rough. My ancestor, named Kara, beat me to a pulp until I finally fought back. Family or not, I didn’t want to hurt her. She was from my bloodline, but I know there’s a reason for everything she does. Because I was the strongest female warrior in our pack, I was barely able to keep up with Kara. She was literally unstoppable. I trained with her everyday, and she taught me more fighting strategies then I can even count. Each day consisted of some test that I needed to pass. If I failed, I had to start over. These test were created to test my morals, strength, resistance, endurance, and my will. Kara said this is only phase one of my training... shoot me now please... I’m not sure just how much longer I’ll be here in this place, but I hope I get to go home soon...

***3 months have passed***

"You are finally worthy and strong enough for your wolves” Kara told me after breakfast. I’ve been without a wolf for so long, and now I’m going to have two? I’m not really sure how to feel about the whole thing. I have responsibilities that come with being the spirit wolf. Kara warned me not to tell a soul other than my family about being the spirit wolf.

“Anyone can betray you, and I don’t want you to join me here with the moon goddess just yet.” She would tell me. I wasn’t able to shift in front of my pack members at least not into my spirit wolf. Because I’m a Silver and there hasn’t been another female to gain knowledge from, Kara explained to me that I will gain two wolfs. I spirit wolf and a regular alpha wolf, so I won’t be discovered.

In Kara’s lifetime, she would only use her spirit wolf, but it ended in her death. This is why, I’m only to shift into my spirit wolf when it’s an emergency. The rest of the time, I need to keep it hidden.

“Although it feels like months have passed here in this realm, it’s only been a day in the real world.”

I stood their in shock. Has it only been a day? The days would drag on for so long in this place, but she’s saying it’s only been a day. How could that be? My questions were cut short by the sound of her voice.

“You need to remember all you’re training. You can show your family and people you trust your spirit wolf whenever you feel ready, but you can never tell another soul. I mean it. It’s for your own protection.” I nodded in agreement.

“Your alpha wolf is the same size as an alpha male. You will be strong in both forms. I have trained you mentally, physically and spiritually. When you awake, your wolves will be their to guide you every step of the way. They will also be able to sniff out who to trust. Trust your instinct.”

I couldn’t believe that the day would finally come that I would return to my family. I can feel their distress and their worry in my bones.

“There are things I forgot to mention because the moon goddess doesn’t allow it, but she will just have to forgive me. Being the spirit wolf grants you special abilities, so I would try to keep your rage to a minimum to keep the powers from flaring up. You can also heal another wolf by willing it so. There’s so much more I didn’t get to teach you, but your wolves will be their to guide you.”

“Thank you for everything you’ve taught me Kara. Watch over me, please. If I mess up, convince the moon goddess to let you guide me” I replied.

“The pleasure is all mine Skyler. You will be the most powerful out of all of us silver women, make us proud. If you do ever need my help, I will bug the moon goddess to let me help you. Goodbye. May the moon goddess protect you forever.”

“Goodbye” I said with a tear running down my cheek.

The next thing I knew I was yanked back into the black abyss. It felt like a lifetime before I finally saw the light.

I slowly opened my eyes, and I was surrounded by machines. My brother Scott was sitting in the chair near my bed, and my brother Steven was on the floor. I hadn’t made any noise yet. I just wanted to watch them for a bit. The strong, tough exterior they wear is only a mask. No one got to see the side of them that I love and adore.

I unhooked all the IV’s that were connected to my body, and the heart monitor that was in my chest. All of a sudden the beeping flatlined and my brothers eyes shot open with fear. Steven shot straight up from the floor, and Scott had literally jumped out of his seat. Realizing what I had done I immediately felt bad for scaring them, but it quickly faded when I saw the happiness that washed over their faces from seeing me awake.

Before I could even get a word in, the two boys practically yanked me out of the hospital bed into a bear hug or should I say wolf hug?

“Thank the moon goddess that you’re alright” I heard Scott say in between breathing.

Steven didn’t have to say much for me to know what he was thinking. He held onto me like if his life depended on it. As sweet as this moment was, It didn’t take long for them to realize that I had unplugged all the cords and taken out the IV and begin to scold me.

“What have you done? You’ve been in a coma for a day and the first thing you do is make the machine flatline. The doctors are going to come storming any second with dad!” Steven roared.

Before I could even respond, the door was almost ripped off it’s hinges. My father and mother stood there in complete fear. It took my dad a second to register that I was actually alive and not apart of his imagination. My mother, on the other hand, came running towards me and engulfed me in this giant, bone-crunching hug. I’m pretty sure I broke a rib... My father soon followed.

“You scared us all sweetheart. Are you feeling any better?” My mother said in a concerned voice.

‘Don’t worry your body is going to heal just give it a few seconds’ I could hear coming from my mind.

I knew it was one of my wolves, but I didn’t have time to have a mind conversation in a room that was being filled with concerned doctors and family members.

“Before we can release her, we need to look her over and make sure she’s okay”, one of the doctors said.

Everyone began to leave the room to give the doctors some space to check me over quickly. It took fifteen minutes before the doctors realized I was healthy.

I changed into some clothes that were in one of the drawers in the hospital, and my guess is that this outfit was chosen by the boys. I mean in what right mind would you wear sweats with sandals and a baggy t shirt that I know belongs to Scott?! It’s hot all of the time! Whatever. It’s the thought that counts right?

I was changing into the clothes when I heard another voice in my head.

‘My name is Lyla. I’m your alpha wolf. I’m so happy to be out and finally with you!’

‘My name is Selene. I’m your spirit wolf. If you need anything at all, we are here. We will never leave you’.

I felt a smile start to form on my lips. It brought me such joy to know that I had not one but two wolves. Everyone made me feel like such a freak for not shifting on our thirteen birthday like the rest of the wolves.

I hurriedly ran out the door and was greeted by everyone the second I came into view. Scott and Steven were sitting in an arm chair in the lobby. Right beside him sat James. Carly was on the opposite side of the lobby by Lewis. My parents were standing in the center of the room walking back and forth frantically. All their eyes fell on me the second I walked into the waiting room. Carly, Lewis and James all ran towards me with their arms wide open. I didn’t want to break another rib, so I dodged Carly’s hand that came towards me first. I ducked under James arm and pushed Lewis’s arms away. They all turned to look at me astonished. To me it all happened so slow, but to them it looked like I was moving at the speed of light. I hadn’t realized just how fast I was now that I had my wolves until the voice reminded me.

‘You need to cool it, or we are going to blow our cover’ said Selene.

‘I got it’ I replied.

“Sorry I just don’t want to be touched. Mom broke a bone with how happy she saw me and I’m still healing,” I lied.

They all didn’t hang on my words to long because I was then escorted out of the hospital wing of the pack house.

I was walking down the stairs when I felt a presence beside me. It was Carly.

“We almost went to battle with the Warblack pack for what they did to you”.

“I’m fine. I am an enemy in their eyes. I would’ve done the same”, I responded.

“The second the pack saw you hurt at school, they went into a frenzy. They tore the whole school apart till they finally found the people who did this to you” said Carly in a serious tone.

“What happened after that?” I questioned.

“Alpha Black came and took them away. He didn’t even bother getting mad at our pack for ripping into his. It was pretty strange. Those pack members didn’t show up to school the next day, so I think out pack showed them who’s boss!” Carly said almost screaming.

I hadn’t realized we were at the bottom of the stairs entering the kitchen.

My mother grabbed a few trays that were probably filled with food. I hadn’t realized that the time was 8:00 pm.

“If you aren’t up for it, you don’t have to go to school tomorrow. You can all skip and spend the day at the house” my father had said while still walking to the front door of the pack house.

“It’s fine daddy. I want to go. I need to kick everyone’s ass on the cheer leading team, and I need to show them what a Silver is really made out of”, I responded with pride in my voice.

I could hear Carly behind me cheering and agreeing with my words. She was my co captain in our old cheer leading squad, so I’m sure she’s dying to teach these girls a lesson.

Tomorrow’s going to be a long day....
