The moment the messenger burst into the hall, my stomach dropped.
“Alpha!” the warrior shouted, his face pale. “It’s Alpha Lucas. He’s back…he is wounded.”
I was on my feet before he finished speaking. My chair screeched against the stone floor, echoing loud in the chamber. Rage surged through me, hot and sharp, my wolf snarling inside my chest.
“Where?” My voice came out as a growl.
“The healers’ wing. They’re tending him now.”
I didn’t wait. I stormed down the corridor, every step fueled by anger, not just at the rogues who dared to touch him, but at Lucas himself. I had told him not to go, I had already sent trackers for Orion but no…Lucas had to move on his own, reckless as always.
