I should have told Catherine the truth, but she would have panicked and tried to keep me home. I was once gone for so long, and I missed so many raids because I stayed home to keep her happy. It wasn’t bad at first, and we have five beautiful children to show for it, but I miss the water.
I stand at the front of the boat with my arms stretched wide, letting the salty spray hit my face. Home. This is where I was made to be. I love my wife and the life we have. I love having my hands in the dirt, connecting with the earth, but there is something so special about being on the water. The unknown. The adventure.
“Father, where are we going?” Magnus asks me, pulling me from my thoughts.
I smile, my heart singing at the very thought. “We’re going for revenge, my son.”
