Confession one

She let out a long, deep sigh, rubbed her temples and then stomped over and slumped down on the couch. She crossed her arms but kept the journal on her lap. I sat on the couch across from her with my arms on my knees and fingers laced. Unable to quite look her in the eyes. “I’ve been having visions in my sleep. But I wasn’t sure whether they were visions or just nightmares. I had tried to tell Alex about them but he was so stressed out and things kept coming up. I didn’t want him to worry over nothing. Then he told me not to come and I just sort of panicked. I needed to come see Aoife, make sure these were actually visions before I stressed everyone out. He would never have let me come if I had told him.” “You couldn’t have just called her?” Ally said, her voice cold and annoyed. “It’s not the same. I was embarrassed enough, I wanted to do it in person. And I wanted to see Alex! So much happened last month you can’t expect me to stay home and stew over all this? To wait until the threat was over? That could take months, a year even!” Tears started to stream down my face. “I started to keep that journal to see if any details were reoccurring. Anything that would actually be helpful if they did come to light.” Aoife walked into the room slowly. Cutting the tension and taking a seat next to me. She rubbed my back and handed me a tissue that I used to wipe the tears off my now flaming hot cheeks. Ally’s shoulders softened and she sat back. She said nothing but I could see I had gotten through to her. “I told Aoife as soon as we got here. She’s been helping me make sense of everything. We’ve even been making jewellery with old runes for protection and focus.” Not a lie, not quite the whole truth. “And you think it’s ok then? That she’s kept this from Alex? You’re just going to let her go with some costume jewellery and wish her the best? This is serious. These visions are serious.” Ally directed at Aoife. “No, I’ve made it quite clear I believe he needs to know. But that I also respect that it is her decision to make.” Ally snorted in response and rolled her eyes. “Explain them to me. There are two here that seem to come up the most, it sounds like an attack and a kidnapping.” Ally made herself comfortable, ready to absorb everything I was about to share. She had read the section about the Harvest Festival and the dancing by the firelight and had known straight away that this was a journal of visions. I went into detail about both visions she had picked out. She would only have had enough time to skim the pages but I can imagine the rings around certain information or exclamation points next to details would have given her places to focus her attention. I told her about the shifter or figure walking up to me on the road, everything going dark and then the basement. Then I told her about the guards and rogues fighting in a field. She asked me a lot of questions. Details of the the field. What the rogues looked like. What the figure that approached me on the street looked like. But I had no real answers. Just vague shapes and feelings. She seemed exacerbated by the lack of information which I told her was the exact reason why I didn’t want to tell everyone straight away. I didn’t know enough to be of any help.  Alex had told Adam, Ally and Jay that Aoife believed I was a seer. He had told them about the pot exploding and how I had called it before it happened. When we were done speaking about the visions to come Ally started questioning me about the visions I had before and if they played out exactly as I had imagined they would. For the most part they had. I told her how I had seen Alex in his wolf form through the windscreen of my car in visions for years before it actually happened. I told her about the Harvest Festival and the details of the women dancing around the fire in tunics.  She listened carefully, making mental notes of everything I said. The guard in her planning and plotting ways to stay safe. Once I was done and she had no more questions we all sat quietly and sipped on the tea Aoife made. “Alright. Here’s the plan.” Ally said eventually breaking the ice. “What’s done is done. You should have told him but I also understand that he would have sheltered you when I believe you should be prepared should anything happen when you’re not with us or in the village. So for these last few days here, you and I are going to train. I’m going to show you basic self defence, where shifter weaknesses are and when you get back home you need to sign up to gym and keep that fitness going. Is that clear?” She demanded. “Yes.” I said nodding my head. “Alex is the Alpha and this is a massive breech of his trust, keeping this information about his mate’s safety from him has put me in a very dangerous situation. Do you understand that?” "Yes.” I said nodding my head again. “Good. We’re going to train and I’m going to give you until the end of your trip here to tell him before I tell him myself.” She said coldly. This was not up for debate.   “Are you going to tell Adam?” I dared to ask. My voice a low and soft. “Agh, I don’t know.” Ally said slumping down further on the couch and rubbing her brow with her fingers. “Probably not. Because then we’d both be in this predicament. But it’s hard to keep anything from him.” Once we had all calmed down Ally finally changed into her clean shirt and headed out to the fence. I helped Aoife clean up and apologised over and over for subjecting her to all that. Ally and my conversation was strained the whole way home. We both ate dinner in our rooms but Alex was already out on patrol so I ate dinner alone and went to bed alone.
