I spin around, the figure in a black hoodie is approaching fast. There’s something oddly familiar about them. I call out, I somehow know I’m in trouble. Then someone grabs me from behind. I kick and scream but everything goes dark. I woke up gasping for air. I was sweating so much my hair was sticking to my face. I felt for Alex on the bed beside me but he wasn’t there. I looked over at his side of the bed but it was still neatly tucked in. He hadn’t come back yet. I caught my breath and checked my phone. It was two in the morning. I walked over to the window to pull back the curtain and see how dark it was outside. The moon was bright enough to make out the shapes of the trees and the guards at the front of the house. I stood there for a while, hoping I could simply will Alex into sight.
