I stared at the tag for a moment, feeling like I wasn’t reading it correctly. There had to be something wrong with my eyesight, because there was no way that the phone number was the simple repetition of the number 6. Was it some sick joke? Someone who simply didn’t want the puppies to be returned to their home and therefore made a false tag so that that wouldn’t happen? Even as I thought of that, I knew that it wasn’t true. Why would you bother putting a tag on them in the first place, especially if that was your intention?
