8. Party For Him

Daniel's Pov We got to the building, and numerous people stood in line. "Caleb, is this worth it?" I asked him. "Trust me. I have gone to these parties before. The experience is unforgettable." "UNFORGETTABLE" "Sorry, yes, bad choice of words. I will be with you, buddy, this time. We might figure out what happened at the New Year party." After a couple of hours of waiting in line, we were inside. Caleb instantly grabbed the drink at the entrance, but I was wary of what had happened to me the last time, and I refused it. The girl in a red glitter dress and face covered in red and dark glitter around her eyes was holding the tray and was surprised but just moved on to serving other newcomers. The lights, the people, I was looking around, trying to make sense of it, hoping somehow to recognize any detail that would remind me of the last event. "Remember, you don't approach them. They will approach us. Simply wait," Caleb instructed me. So I had to wait for someone to engage me instead and what would I do then? That was beyond frustrating because I wanted to get answers. I wanted to figure out what was going on with me and my mind. "Also, you should understand who is who at this party," he started to point out. "Watch the way some of them move," "What about it?" it all looked the same to me. There were a lot of overdressed people in wild outfits covered in sparkles, gems, and possibly blood stains mingling. Some were approaching others, and some were getting in pairs or bigger groups and leaving together through the multiple doors on the bar walls. "Is this human or a vampire?" Caleb pointed to the girl sitting across from us on the couch, drinking something red from her glass. "I have no idea, she looks human, but that drink is pretty dark and red. Who is she?" "Hmm, I don't know, but she looks hot." He winked at me. "Thanks for the lesson, buddy," I laughed. "Alright, look at that guy standing by the bar," he said, pointing in her direction. The guy was wearing a black suit that looked tailored perfectly for him. It had some bright red zigzag streaks that were glowing. "So what about this guy?" "Just keep watching!" Caleb told me. The man casually talked to another, then left, but it was not just a regular fast walk. Instead, he almost blended with the air, swished across the dance floor, and started chatting with the girl standing by the stage where the acrobats were performing. "Do you see how he moved?" Caleb pointed out. I should have been surprised, but I was not. The fact that the guy moved unbelievably fast registered and astounded me, yet I suddenly had a different agenda. "Sorry, I have to go," I responded, and my legs were already taking me there on their own accord. There was a young woman's back, hiding behind others. I barely glanced at her, but I knew I had to find her. I thought I had lost all control, and it made no sense after all, but I started walking, crossing the dance floor. Something quickly moved by me, almost touching my face, but I didn't care. I had to get to her, and I had to see her face. It was a crazy thought, but somehow, I knew there would be an answer when I saw her. There had to be. I reached her as fast as I could, and without a pause or a thought, I touched her shoulder to get her attention. She turned, and to my surprise, I knew it was the girl from my dreams. I knew it was her, without a doubt. It was the person I had dreamed of for weeks and days, and I was at a loss for words. How was she here? How was she real? She was looking at me as if waiting for something or examining me. I could not tell for sure. Then I heard the song, and somehow my lips uttered: "Would you dance with me?" I was expecting anything and nothing. I had no idea she would follow me to the dance floor and how good it felt to hold her in my arms, as she belonged there all along. There was a familiarity about her, the smell, how cold she was. I felt like I was drifting into my dreams where I could not see her. How could she be here, in my arms? Yet, I knew it was her. Then I thought about my wife, and a jolt went through my body. How could I betray her? At that moment, the girl must have felt something as she tripped off my foot, and I grabbed her to hold on to her. I could not bear her not being next to me, to disappear into nothingness as it constantly repeated in my sleep. I kept her close, and we kept dancing, looking into each other's eyes from then on. I had questions for her, yet I didn't know how to ask or what the questions even were. Then the music stopped, and she stepped away from me just a step, but something happened like the magic in the air was gone, and I was back into a strange reality or the vampire party. I could see the people almost shifting from place to place, something I had not noticed when we first walked in with Caleb. It seemed like the veil was gone from my eyes. The world around me was not the same as I thought my whole life to be. I looked at her, and the girl, that woman unknown but familiar, was standing in front of me. Then I heard her ask me, "How did you find me? I want to know everything!" What the hell should I tell her? That I have seen her in my dreams? That I forgot things that happened the last time I was at this type of party? Join my private VIP group Mila Dubua - Author, on f*******: to get updates and private discussions!
