28. Torn apart

Daniel held me in his arms. Then we slowly moved back into the bedroom. His warm touch seemed to calm me, and the bloody tears stopped. I felt content in his embrace and safe. Safe for now. I controlled my feelings as I knew already if I got carried away, my barely healing back would start burning again. "Hey," I heard Daniel whisper. My eyes were closed, and I pretended to go to sleep. I had to think about what to tell him. What would he do if he knew of my burns? Would he freak out or try to help me and somehow get into more trouble?
