All I wanted to do was to get into the apartment, but I could not pass the barrier of human territory. I needed an invitation from the human who lived there. It was as if a protective shield was guarding it against our intrusion, yet the vampire b***h inside was looking at me, judging me, mocking me with her eyes, while she was standing inside the place.
Daniel’s smell was driving me insane. I had to get my s**t together and find out what was going on and get in there. The delivery story I used on humans would not work on her, nor my glamour.
“What are you doing here? I came to see my human,” I hissed out. Where did he meet her? He was supposed to be fully banned from every vampire establishment.
Her face lit with surprise and anger this time. “Your human? It better not be what I think.”
“Make him invite me in and get out of the way,” I replied.
She stepped out of the apartment and grabbed me by the throat. While it sucked to be seized by her, I held my scream and grabbed her n*****s and squeezed and turned them hard.
She let out a shriek but would not let me go. We were locked up in each other’s body parts, squeezing as hard as we could. I heard someone’s footsteps from inside the apartment. I didn’t want Daniel to see me like that. So I let her go.
“Truce?” I asked her, coughing.
“f**k no,” she punched me in the face, and I could feel the blood dripping down to my mouth from my nostrils.
I could see the guy approaching while I looked over her shoulder. He looked familiar but was not my human. I was relieved that Daniel would not see me in the catfight, but also disappointed. I let go of one of the Vampire female n*****s and punched her in the face instead with the right hand, and she dropped to the ground.
“Caleb,” she squealed. “Did you get a new Master while I let you off for a few weeks?” she quickly jumped up, launching at me. But I dashed out of the way, and she hit the wall. I enjoyed seeing her getting hurt. But I was still unsettled about Daniel.
“No, she is not here for me.” He stared at me. “She looks like Daniel’s girl. I saw them together right when we got kicked out.” Relief washed over me. He didn’t find another vampire to execute his last wish or have some kinky release. I wanted to be special to him, not just a vampire. I wanted to matter. The other chick was relaxing as well.
“Oh,” she paused and stood up as if nothing had happened. She eyed me up and down. “Why didn’t you say so?”
“I thought you took Daniel,” I replied, wiping the blood off my face. The bleeding will stop eventually. I heal fast.
“You can invite her in, I guess,” she told her human. We cooled off as fast as we got heated.
I was shaking with anticipation. I ran into the place, following my nose. The smell was strong everywhere, but I could tell where it was the freshest. I found Daniel in the bedroom. Something was wrong. He lay in his bed. His body was emitting too much hit. He was covered under a few blankets. His eyes were closed. His face looked very pale, and his breathing was heavy.
“What did you do to him?” I asked the other human who was following me.
“He is sick,” Caleb replied. “I am taking care of him. He caught something.”
I shook Daniel slightly, measuring my strength. He opened his eyes, looked at me, and then closed them again. “Why is he so sound asleep?”
“I gave him some PM meds,” his friend replied.
“So you drugged him?” My anger was rising yet again.
“So he can rest and not cough too much,” Caleb responded.
I studied Daniel. Was he just drugged, or was there something really dreadful happening to him?
“Why is she here?” I was still wound up from the unexpected meeting with the other vampire.
“We are together,” he replied.
He made little sense. “Are you her pet?” I asked.
“I am not. I've had enough of these questions, though. Do you want to help to take care of him now?
I nodded, and he stormed out. He was clearly her pet and an ignorant one as well.
I had no idea how to take care of humans. I was still examining Daniel. He shook his head from side to side and moaned. “No!” I wanted to help him, but I didn’t know how. I held his hand and felt his body relax. He smiled, still in his deep sleep.
Vampires didn’t get sick, not like that anyway. There were certain blood diseases swirling through us, but they have all been cured, mostly. Either way, we don’t stay sick for long. It goes one way or the other. You were either here or you were gone.
I ran to find the other human sitting on top of the kitchen table while being drained by the vampire.
“What are you doing here while he is dying in the other room all alone?” I asked them.
Caleb's eyes were glazed as she sucked on his neck, but he mumbled something about a terrible cold and a bunch of PM medicine that he gave to Daniel again.
The human was not cold. He was hot, too hot for the matter. I was worried and felt helpless. I pulled out my phone and typed, “when people get too hot.” My fingers were trembling.
Something about heatstroke immediately came up, and it needed immediate medical attention, according to the internet. Even I knew that meant he needed to see a doctor.
“You are killing him,” I yelled out. I googled the closest emergency room since I have seen people getting there in the movies many times.
It was still the middle of the night. I had a safe passage. I grabbed Daniel and carried him bridesmaid style outside and then through the dark streets. I quickly got to the emergency room and got to the front desk. The nurse there, or whoever it was, asked me for his insurance and symptoms. She also offered us a wheelchair for Daniel, but I refused.
I didn’t understand what exactly the insurance was. So I glamour her to speed things up.
She brought the doctor out, who took us in, passing by surprised people on the way. I didn’t know if it was because all the protocol was broken or because I was still carrying Daniel.
We went into the room, and I placed him carefully on what looked like a very narrow and hard bed. They hooked up lots of wires to him. I was weary of that, but I let them.
They took his blood and poked things into his nose. I remember seeing it in movies, so that is the only way I let them do it to him, even though every instinct told me not to. No one should take my human blood, but I knew better, so I didn’t do anything. They plugged something into his vein and attached the bag with the clear liquid. I forced myself to sit on the chair and watch them work around him.
They eventually let him be, leaving us alone. I crawled under the blanket with him, inhaled his smell, and kissed him on the forehead. He was still very, very hot. Then, he suddenly opened his eyes, and a smile spread over his face when our eyes met.
“This is a wonderful dream. Please don’t let me wake up.”
