Chapter4

***Poppy***

The night moved along. Working in the kitchen seemed to keep the time from dragging out. I was glad for that; I could hear the chatter from the others each time the doors would swing open. Some of the Omegas had commented on what was going on and lots about the guest of horror. I couldn't deny I was kind of curious about him. I was thinking of stealing a peek one of these times the doors opened, but then thought against that idea as I didn't want anyone to spot me, most of all my stepmother; she would be rather pissed off if that happened.

"Poppy, thank you so much for helping," Mary says as she comes in to grab some more wine from the storage cabinet.

"You're welcome," I smile at her,

"Dont forget to makesure you grab some food, we would be swamped if not for you, I need all the help out there I can get."

She pops the cork on three of the bottles,

"Oh, Um, im alright, I can just grab something at home," I bite my lip, looking away from her, I dont want to hear about it if it gets back to Trinity that I ate here. I know that's something she wont like,

Mary stopped what she was doing,

"Poppy, I do not care what that women says, you are working here to help us out, you are going to have a chance to enjoy some of this food, Now, If i must i will walk out there and tell her myself," She raised a brow at me, Knowing she would do as she said she never hide the fact she doesnt care for Trinty, I let out a sigh, nodding my head,

"Alright, I'll grab some before I leave tonight."

She gave me a quick nod, "Good," Grabbing the bottles, "Now let me get back out there before they hunt me down for more wine, crazy ass werewolves,"

She moved towards the door,

"Thanks, Mary," I call out to her just as she was about to push the door open. She smiled at me, her eyes soft as she looked at me,

"You are welcome, Poppy,"

She was out the door. Looking over, I see the extra food sitting out in the heating dishes. Moving over there, I grab a small plate and put some on it. Sitting at the small table in the corner, I knew I had some time as I had the dishes caught up and whatever extra was ready for when they needed it.

I was halfway through my food when someone came in, I didnt look up, thinking it was just someone coming for something else,

"What the hell are you doing!" Trinity all but screeched, making me freeze,

Looking up, she was glaring at me, "You are here to work, not sit on your ass and eat." She slapped the fork out of my hand, making it clank on the plate.

I shifted back away from her, but couldn't get away as I was agasint the wall,

"Cant you do anything right? I told you were to be here working, not sitting here acting like some kinda spoiled brat,"

"Ma'am, I am working. Mary told me to take a break and grab some food. I have everything ready for them."

She scoffed, "Well, it dont matter, I want you to go home, right now." She barked at me,

Home why?

"And do not tell the Alpha or anyone other than those who were in here that you were here in the pack house. I told Alpha that you were home, not feeling well, so you need to get out of here and quickly; no one can see you here."

She clapped her hands at me, ushering me to get up and move. When I didnt move, she grabbed my upper arm, forcing me to my feet. Her grip was tight,

"Did you not hear me, you worthless girl? Move it now," She started to shove me towards the back door,

"What is going on in here?"

I felt a small amount of relief when I heard Mary's voice,

"It does not concern you, Omega," Trinity spat out at her,

Mary crossed her arms as she stared at Trinity,

"Oh, it does when you are in my kitchen, handling one of my helpers like that, not to mention she is only half wolf and you are hurting her. Should I call for the Alpha and Luna?"

"There's no need for all that. I wanted Poppy to return home. She has been here long enough, and it's getting late; I do not want her walking home in the dark."

Mary wasnt buying it, "You think im buying that crap, now I will say this only once you will remove your hand from Poppy and take your self out of my kitchen, I do not care who you are, If I see you treating her like that again I will go stright to the Alpha, You are to be caring for her not causing her pain,"

Trinity huffed, "Omega, who are you to talk to me like that? Im a Warriors mate, I outrank you, so you should watch your mouth."

She pushed me towards the door,

"You go home now," She pointed to the door,

"Poppy, stay right there," Mary says as she walks closer to me. She wraps an arm around my shoulders,

"What are you?" Trinity began to ask when the door opened,

"Ms. Mary, is there a problem in here?" Beta Hudson asked as he stepped into the kitchen, his eyes taking in what was going on,

"Trinity, what are you doing in here? Are you helping with the dinner?" He asked her, I wanted to laugh, her cook, I do not think so, she cant even boil water, let alone cook a whole meal,

"Beta Hudson, sorry, but no, I came in here to tell my stepdaughter to go ahead and go home. I was not aware she was in here helping. I just found out she was sick earlier, so she didnt want to come." She quickly spilled the words out.

Beta Hudson just raised a brow at her,

He slid his eyes over to me,

"Poppy, is that true? Were you not well earlier?"

Trinity gives me that look, I know that look, it's the open your mouth,h and you will pay look, the same one she always has when im in for it. Taking in a breath, I didnt know what to do, I mean im already going to get some kinda of punishment anyway, she wont let me off the hook, not with Mary standing up for me, somehow it will be my fault this is all happening, Oh forget it, I'll deal with it,

"No, Beta Hudson, Im feeling fine. Ms. Trinity had me come to help in the kitchen, but she just came in saying I need to go home."

His eyes moved from me to her, "Didnt the Alpha announce that all unmated females were to be present for this event, as the Prince was going to be here tonight? So tell me, why was she put in here to work? and not out there with the rest of the pack like she should have been."

I watch as she swallows. She clears her throat, "Im sorry, Beta Hudson, I thought it would be better if she were in here, as she is only half werewolf, I didnt want it to be disrespectful to the Prince himself with having a half wolf be in his presence."

I heard a low growl come from him. I stiffened at it. Mary squeezed my shoulder,

He held out his arm, "Poppy, would you please come with me, dear?"

I swallowed as I looked from him to Mary. Im not used to this much authority, it's a bit much, and im not sure what to do. I may only be half, but I can still feel it as it swarms around me,

"You will be fine, Poppy. Go with Beat Hudson," Mary walks me over to him. I can see the storm on my stepmother's face as she watches us,

"As for you," He points to her, "You will follow us, and we are going out there so you can explain to the Alpha what has happened, and do not think cause there is a guest here, he will not act on it."
