***Rafe***

"I thought it would be disrespectful to the Prince." She quickly rushed out. I heard Reggie scoff next to me,

"Lady, you cant be that stupid." He says as he shakes his head, she jerks her head back like he just slapped her,

"Excuse me, but that is uncalled for. I was looking for the pack. Poppy here is the only one like her, so I was worried she would be judged," She snapped at him.

I feel his body got ridged,

"Enough." The Alpha holds up his hand. By now, the Luna has stepped up. She is looking around, but her eyes land on my mate.

"Poppy, Hunny." She takes her from the Beta's hold. She goes willingly, I move, wanting it to be me she goes to,

"From now on, Poppy will be staying at the pack house," Alpha says, making the women gasp. She steps forward,

"Alpha, please, she was my mate's daughter. Her place is with us, her family."

"I highly doubt you care for her as family. Hell, you just lied to your Alpha, and you said it in front of the Crown Prince; you really must be stupid."

Dam Reggie was on a roll, and here I am with my tongue tied, normally im more on the ball with this, but this has thrown me for a loop. It's like my brain has frozen, and I cant think or do anything other than stare at her,

The Alpha turns to look at his mate, "Dear, would you please take Poppy and get her settled in a room?"

She nods as she pulls her away. I fight to stay still, but I know I cant announce it here that she is my mate, I would put a target on her with all these other females here, and I wont let anyone hurt her, and everyone is looking at us now, so they are all hearing this going on.

"No, you cant," That woman calls out. She goes to move, but the Beta grabs her arm, holding her in her place. The Alpha Shots gave her a look that had her shutting her mouth,

"We will take this to my office. We have put on enough of a show," he tips his head at his Beta, who starts to pull her with him,

"My Beta and I will join you as well. I think I need to be a part of this," I tell him. He only nods.

We fall in behind the Alpha, I steal another look at my mate as the Luna and another woman walk her out of the room,

"She's your mate, isn't she?" Reggie leans in close to me,

"Yeah, but Im not claiming her in front of all those people, something is going on, and we need to figure it out. I will talk to the Alpha as soon as he is finished with that woman,"

He nodded but fell in step with me, "Knew it, I saw it on your face the minute she was in front of you, Happy for ya man," He clapped me on the back,

Once we were in the Alpha's office, he turned, looking at that woman. Reggie and I moved off to the side. This is something within his pack, and he needs to handle it. We will step in if I feel it's not fair, but he seems to be handling it just fine.

"Now, I can not believe you would lie to me, your Alpha, and to top it, you have been mistreating Poppy. Her father would be rolling in his grave if he could see how his only daughter has been treated,"

"I have taken good care of her, she has a roof over her head and food in her belly, I did not kick her out after her father died, And i explained why i did what i did, I wasn't trying to cause trouble, I truly thought it be better, She is the only one like that in this pack, how was i to know any different."

HE just looked at her. How could she think that would have been the case? We have always been open with others. We do not hold it against them if they are different from us. Her mother was human, of course, she would only be half, don't make her any less in our eyes.

"Trinity, You joined my pack when Greg claimed you as his mate, you have been treated well here, we welcomed you and your daughters in and treated you like you have always been a part of us, I can not believe what you have been doing, but that changes from now on, you are no longer in charge of Poppy care, she will remain here at the pack house, under mine and my mates care, it is clear you do not care about the girl and i can not believe it has taken me this long to step in, so from here on out you are to stay away from Poppy, is that clear?"

"Alpha, please, don't take her away from me. I promise I will make sure she is cared for, I will do anything you say."

He crossed his arms,

"I don't trust you, goddess only knows how long this has been going on, Poppy has attended less and less of our events, and im starting to think she has been here but in the back like tonight,"

She seemed like she was searching for words, but he didn't give her a chance to talk again,

"Beta Hudson, please escort her out. Find her daughter's. I want them to leave. Also, we will be around tomorrow to collect Poppy's things. I will warn you now that if there is any of her stuff is damaged, it will cost you. Do you understand me?"

She dropped her head, "Yes, Alpha,"

"Good," He nodded to his Beta, "Beta, please see them out."

I waited till the door was closed, then I looked at him,

"We need to talk about Poppy."

He looked at me, "It's alright, Prince Rafe, she will be staying here, I should have done that a long time ago."

I waved a hand at him, "That's not it, she is my mate."

The shock look on his face said it all.

"Are.." He trailed off, "Are you sure? Poppy, is your mate?"

"Yes, I am, but i couldn't claim her out there in front of all those people, it would make her a target to the others, who think they have a better right to be my mate, and with her being half wolf they will lash out at her, and im not wanting her hurt in anyway, so this must stay between us,"

"Yes, yes, I understand, but I mean, how are you planning on handling this? they will find out sooner or later,"

Letting out a sigh, "Yes, they will but i need to talk with her, and get to know her she didn't seem to realize i was her mate, that maybe something to do with her not being a full werewolf, but she should still feel something towards me, once im sure she feels it and is ready we will leave till then i will stay here with her,"

He seemed to be thinking, but he took in my words, "Please forgive me, Prince Rafe, Im a little worried as Poppy isn't like the others."

I hold up my hand, "I understand your worry, but know I would do nothing to harm her or bring harm to her, that is why I waited till now to say something, everything I do from here on out is for her and her safety."

"Alright, How is it can I help with this?"

"First thing is, I need all the information on her and her father, along with that woman. You did tell me some of it, but I need everything, as I do not think this woman is going to just roll over and walk away from her. I see her giving us some trouble."
