“I know you all have been waiting for this moment, and it is finally here with us. My daughter Arya Scarlett Whitlock is here with me today and my wife is here too. Come on, come and say hi to my staff members here. I know they are happy to see you, so come forward.” He said as he ushered her to talk to the staff members who were seated in the company’s hall. There was just so much going on her mind, she was finally on the company premises, a place she had only come to once or twice during the company’s special events.

“Hi, I know you have all been waiting for this moment but I was more than anticipating this moment too, and I am glad we are all here. I don’t know you all, but I believe we will know each other as time goes by and, as my father said, I am Arya Scarlett Whitlock, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Whitlock, I will be taking over my father’s position in this company. I will be the CEO and I will be running the company with your help and his help, of course, but I just want to assure you that nothing is going to change, everything will be normal, just a little change. But not much. I am hoping that I will receive a cooperative team that is more than willing to take this company far. I am looking forward to working with you” she said, and they clapped as she resumed her seat next to her mother.

“As you have heard from my daughter, I know she is going to do a great job here, better than I did, and with your help, of course, I am just happy because this day has come and I have got to see my daughter taking over the company after me. I know she will do great by your side and you won’t give her any kind of trouble, but you will cooperate with her to make this a success. And on that note, I would like to tell you that I have a special party. It is a celebration for my daughter and every other staff or employee of this company is invited. A party will be taking place tonight at my home and you are all invited. It is a good day for this company and for all of us, so I would like to welcome my wife to say hi, then we can all go back to work. You will interact later”. He said to him as he invited his wife Ruth to say hi and talk to them.

It took only half an hour for the meeting and the interaction to end. The employees were so happy and they seemed to like the new management. No one really knew how Arya was going to treat them and what exactly she was planning to do to make sure the company rose and became among the best companies in New York City.

Rumors had started spreading around that the new boss was coming around and, from the look of things, she was not just a spoilt brat like they were expecting, but she was some kind of no-nonsense woman. She was young but seemed focused and always on point. They were already starting to get afraid of him.

The moment Arya walked into her elegant office, just like the father had said, everything was on point and just like she had requested, glass walled with a serene view of the town and everything hers were two couches on the other side, her desk had a PC and a laptop on top of it and it even had a fridge, a coffee maker and everything just like she had requested and as she sat on the reclined seat and the dialed her friend’s number, she wanted to tell her how the day was going by

“Hey Hayley, can’t tell you how happy I am right now, everything is going on well and I have got the best office ever. I have just been shown around by dad and mom and they just left, so I am officially taking over this company. To for real. Wow, I am just so overwhelmed with emotions right now. I don’t know if I am to be happy, to be sad, to be excited. I just don’t know, this is a new feeling and I am so happy to start working”. She blubbered over the phone and Hayley, on the other hand, just chuckled.

“I am happy for you. I think I should come by and see your new office and see how you are doing. On my side, I don’t even know what to do, I am just lazing around and my brother is running the company. I am trying hard to convince dad that I can help him, but dad still doesn’t trust me, so I don’t know if he wants me to just come here, watch cartoons like a teenager or go out there and work. I am his daughter, for heaven’s sake. Why doesn’t he just treat me like my brother? I am bored and, like I said, I was even planning to move out and look for a job, but everyone knows me around here, they know my father, how do you think they are going to look at me? I am looking for a job and owning the biggest company in this city. I honestly feel bored” she said on the other end, and Arya sighed, she knew that her best friend was going through so much about a job and the disagreement between her and her ending.

“I know what you want but that is your father’s decision and maybe you should think about it, and respect it. You can ask him to let you work so you can gain enough experience before you go in to help your brother run the company. Don’t forget the fact that he is your elder brother and you are going to respect your father’s decision, and maybe you should come here and gain some experience before you go back home to talk to your father about it.”

“You got to be kidding me right now, I want to work at my father’s company, it is my right to work there just like my brother is and look at you, you are already in the office. You have taken over the company and you do not have to gain work experience for you to work at your father’s company and not just that, but you are the CEO and the boss. Why doesn’t my father trust me? To say the truth, I am honestly jealous of you sometimes. I am starting to think that my father doesn’t love me and he loves my brother more than he loves me. I just don’t know what I am supposed to do to prove to him that I can do this.”

“I think you have forgotten the fact that you are not the eldest child and your brother has to run the company and I, on the other hand, I am a only child to my parents and the only one who can run the company after my father. You can seriously compare your life with mine, Hayley. You know that is not even possible and no, you don’t have to prove anything to your father. He will know once you are ready and he won’t hesitate to give you a position in that office, you just have to stop whining and be a good girl. I think that is all that is expected from you.”

“Whatever, it is ice hearing that from you but I will do as you say, and now that you bailed out on me, I think you should take me out for lunch today, I know it is twelve already and I will just go to the swore, I should be there in an hour.”

“Jeez, I don’t think I have that time with me right now, Hayley, I just got to work and I have got so much paperwork on my desk right now, I don’t think I will manage to take you out for lunch today. Maybe on the weekend and for your information, I didn’t bail out on you. You did not call me as you promised, so I think that makes everything equal.”

“Whatever, I am going to the shower right now, you are the new boss and told the CEO, so you can be told that you have a lot of paper work, you can skip that and we can go out for lunch. I will pay. Don’t worry, it is not like I am that broke anyway.”

“I know arguing with you will be a waste of time. I will be expecting you, let me get to work, you will call me when you arrive.” She said and just then her office phone rung.

“Hey I got to go, I just got an office call to attend to.” She said and hung up even before Hayley could respond.

“Whitlock Home smart Realty LLC Company, Arya Scarlet speaking, how may I help you?”

“Oh, sorry boss, I am the receptionist and there is someone who insists on seeing you right now and he doesn’t even have an appointment.”

“Oh, what is your name?” she asked. She was still not familiar with their names. I mean she was just getting started at work and it was understandable

“My name is Cynthia Morgan.”

“Okay Cynthia, who is it that insists on seeing me without an appointment? Did he say his name?”

“No, he did not say his name, but he said that you would recognize him once you saw him. He said he is from your past.”

“Okay, let him come, and Cynthia, next time don’t call me to my office if someone asks to see me without an appointment, okay?”

“Okay ma’am, it won’t happen again.” She said as she directed the guy to Arya’s office.
