Sunflower chapter nine

Warning: This chapter will have a talk about grooming, and I will cut it short today as I'm using my time to educate myself and add some more details to help for the next chapter. I don't feel like we talk about grooming a lot and we just play it off as daddy issue. Put this chapter will dab in it a bit and the start of the next will go into more.

The things I do for Ava, she got in going to a kappa party and she got me an oversized white polo shirt. There was this girl who came in here with two drinks and Ava and I one. I took it and thanked her, I poured it on the ground, I’m going to have to be the adult of the night.

‘Come on let’s have fun’ Ava said 

Ava just left me, there was this girl who was handing out gifts and she handed me a bag and inside was a vibrator. What the f**k, Kappa is one of the weridest placest to be at. I went inside where Ava was dancing on the table. She noticed me, she drank. We were here for forty minutes. How did she get drunk so fast? I guess I have to take one for the team and take Ava home cause her mother would have had Ava party till she was drunk and in her eyes useful to her. 

‘Where are we going’ She said ‘ I want to party’ 

When I got her to her dorm her mother was there waiting. I took Ava to her room and laid her on her side.

‘What happened to her?’ She asked 

‘Ava, was making connections and being your perfect child and got drunk she’ll have a hangover’ I said 

Raya came out with a bag of hangover supplies, like she was waiting for this moment. I thanked her and then went to tend to Ava.Her mother didn’t bother to even care and left out the door. I walked back in the room and Ava was passed out on the bed. Ava had an air mattress that I blew up and took a loose blanket she had and went to sleep next to her. The next morning I saw Ava throwing up in a small trash can.

‘Sleep and sober up I’m going to stay and take care of you’ I said

‘No you have class and I have class, I can’t miss it’ She said 

She smiled and then went back to bed, I handed her a cup of tea. My phone went off with a text from Kenny.

Kenny: Where are you, I called Ava’s phone and she didn’t answer

Me: Yeah, i’m with Ava, she kinda sick at the moment and i’m taking care of her

Kenny:So your taking care of your sunflower, don’t come home and get me sick

I rolled my eyes and stopped testing Kenny and I wanted to order Ava something to eat. I have heard nothing from Ava’s mother since last night.The control Ava’s mother has of her life isn’t right and Ava needs to notice that. There was a knock from the door, I answered it.

‘I’m going to get homework from Ava’s class and tell them she is sick but still working through it’ She said 

I thanked her, Ava grabbed the trash can and spilled her guts. I held her hair as she threw up and handed her a napkin. She took a sip of her tea, this was the first time I saw her not in the state of bliss that she is always in. I mean it when I'm sick she better take care of me. Ava started groaning and then fell onto the air mattress. Ava got up and went into the bathroom. I started to fix her room. Raya came in.

‘Oh so your cleaning her room now’ She said 

Ava came back with glasses on and a hoodie and then went to put on her slides. Where the hell was she going, Raya handed Ava a glass and then drank it. 

‘Where are you going’ I asked 

‘Kappa sent a text, My period thought that it would be a good time to come so I need to get some stuff even though we have tampons in there. They are not mine’ She said 

She is not thinking about going back to Kappa after this morning. What is so special about kappa, I don’t understand it, maybe the fact that I'm just in community college and they aim to attack the one in colleges. But I'm transferring to this college to keep an eye on Ava. She needs me. She may not say it but she does. I would have to deal with that today, I have to get my transfer. I’ll start the paperwork now because her mom isn’t  going to care for her.

‘You’re going to go back to kappa,why’ I said 

‘Because these are my college years and I need to live them up and I can also make it to Shakespear 101’ She replied

I know she is going to be mad at me after I said that moving in together would be too fast. She is going to let the kappa fools ruin her. My mom was in kappa and it didn’t end well with her, she had s*x one night to an asshole and then they had this crazy one right here. I should call my dad. He is trying to get sober, drinking was his way of working with my mother's death and then he got addicted but it’s a good thing that he got grandma to help him. I walked out of the room and called him. I explained to him the small things like how college was going and my life and Kenny. He explained how he was ten day sober and grandmother helped him. We talked for a while and then, I went back to deal with Ava. She added some moisturizer to her face.

‘So you were talking to your father’ Ava said 

‘Yeah we been working things out’ I said 

 She was so happy and wanted to hear everything and that’s what I did. I explained everything just to stall for a while. I explained how he was getting sober and he wanted to do it for a while now. He was also seeing someone and he just seemed happy he would give me more information about my mother and my grandmother who was helping him and he was ten day sober.

‘That’s amazing news we should celebrate, let’s go out to eat, your parent issue are getting better and mines are s**t but let’s celebrate you we should celebrate you’ She said 

What the f**k did Raya gibe her she looked f*****g over it she played with her hair pulling out some string of it. I walked over to Raya she high out on the couch, i’m going to f*****g kill her.

‘She fine’ Raya said 

‘It doesn’t matter that she f*****g fine what is she on’ I said 

I'm not wasting time on Raya when she drugged up like this. Ava came in the room, skipping and then walked out the door. I followed her. She has to be with her therapist today and she drugged up. Ava's phone went off in her hand of course it's her mom. I answer it. She was just going to remind Ava of stuff she has to do and not care for her. Her mom didn't know I was on the phone. She said how she was disappointed in Ava for getting drunk at a kappa party when she was there to join a sisterhood. She went on and on about how her mother frustrated in her and it pissed me off that I'm just sitting here listen to a mother who can't say a single f*****g pleasant thing about her daughter. 

'Listen here Ava did what she was told by you time and time again and you have your head so far up you ask to see Ava is not you she doesn't want to be you. The lawyer, let her be Ava and if you love her like you say you do, why aren't you here her mother taking care of her' 

'Because she was a mistake and I'm molding her to be much more that fetus, ' She said

'No Ava, not a mistake. She and artist, she a limelight in so many people lives and you refuse to see that, ' I said 

I hung up the phone in anger and took care of Ava. I grabbed Ava and brought her back to her room. I blocked Ava’s mother because she didn't need any of that right now. 

‘Calm down okay I gave her some gummy bears she'll be fine’ Raya said 

She didn't give her weed gummy bear, Ava sat on the couch with Raya. I had to deal with the things I do for her. I also had to deal with Kenny who just texted me about something and  it wasn’t that important. I know she probably found some poor guy to bother but no it was much more different.

Kenny: I’m getting married

Me: What 

Kenny: Yeah and he’s amazing, he 's changing for the better. Yes he has a kid and he's sober. But love is an amazing thing

What the f**k was she doing Kenny and marriages she doesn’t even date how did this even happen. Kenny and Ava are like children I had to take care of. Now I have this one getting married and the other one is eating weed bears. Yup my amazing children, what’s next do have to walk Kenny down the aisle also Kenny going to be stepmom to a kid she doesn’t even know. I have issues on top of issues to deal with. I dealt with calm Ava. She was back to her same old stress and weird way.

‘What did I miss’ She said 

I explained everything to her and she looked embarrassed by her actions. She walked into her room and started to draw. I think this was the first time I saw Ava draw. Yes, I saw pictures in her room. I don’t know what she was drawing. All I noticed was a face. Once she was done she asked me for the green. Ava and I walked to the cafe and with Ava student i.d she gets fifty percent off every offer. She got a milkshake and Ava ordered some fries and we sat outside waiting for our stuff.

‘So you told my mom off and kenny getting married to a man that is your father’ She said

‘She not marrying my father’ I said 

‘Nora the signs are all there she marrying your father and she going to be your stepmom’ She said 

Fuck the signs are all there, my friend would never do anything anything like that. My father maybe but Kenny would never marry my father, I called her. 

‘Kenny, you 're not marrying my father are you’ I asked 

‘Yeah I thought you knew, Nora I love him and I know you think it seem wrong but I do’ She said 

What the f**k she was going to marry my dad and never saw anything wrong with wrong with it. I was f*****g pissed he didn’t change for his child no he changed for a women that his daughter age and he saw nothing wrong with it at all is what disgusting about this all. I called my father to hear this from him.

‘Are you marrying Kenny’ I said 

‘Kennedy is an adult she can make this chose’ He said 

I hung up I wonder what my grandmother is going to say about this he didn’t even try to repair our relationship no he went straight to Kenny an girl he knew all her life. He doesn’t even know that he grooming her hell I don’t even know Kenny knows that she being groomed. If I tell her she just say i’m letting my anger cloud my judgement. I order were ready and we got up to get it as I was stressing I notice that Ava was eyeing my milkshake.

‘Take it’ I said 

‘What going on with you’ She said 

‘Kenny marrying my father and he grooming her and I guess nobody sees an issue with it’ I said 

I couldn't help but stress about this I could try talking to Kenny when I get home but what more could I do besides be there for my friend and tried to get her to see what my father was doing was wrong.
