He started following the group of young wolves. Their energy fascinated him. There was magic flowing between some of the girls, but the way they moved around each other made it difficult to see where the magic came from.
“Trevor, who are they?” Radagast didn’t look at Trevor. He couldn’t keep his eyes off the girl.
“They are the Lunar pack, Sir.” Trevor frowned. The only rule his mother made was that he was to be escorted by his tutor, to ensure he didn’t go around slandering their coven’s good name. He knew better, she didn’t want him interacting with any “unsavory” types.
“How can there be traces of magic in a wolf pack?” Radagast frowned.
“Not all wolves are pure-bloods, Sir? The Lunar pack’s known for their mixed blood.” Trevor said with disgust. Noticing four girls grouping together, their laughter was contagious, and he started seeing a resemblance in some of their facial features.
Their perfectly defined cheekbones, full lips, and hourglass bodies. They had to be from the same bloodline.
“Sir, I think it is best we move away from the wolves. Your mother will be very displeased.” Trevor tried his best to distract Radagast.
“I don’t see the need, Trevor. I want to see more of them. Besides, my mother is not here, she will only know if you tell her.” The girl in his family colours had captured his attention. Pulling him in. Pulling him closer.
When she turned around, time slowed down, her silver hair flared around her shoulders. Her gray eyes locked with his. He needed her, wolf or not! He had found his mate! She smiled at him, blushing slightly, looking back at what she was doing.
Did he imagine the spark? Did she feel the same? He had to know!
“Circe!” Isobel discreetly pulled on Circe’s sleeve.
“Isobel!” Circe teased. They were all hanging around a stall where the guys were trying to show off by winning teddy bears for their mates. They had to hit a rubber weight hard enough to make the bell ring.
“Circe, please, I think...” Isobel’s voice sounded panicked. “I think my mate is here. What do I do?”
“That’s not possible. I should meet mine before you meet yours.” Circe kept on teasing but looked at her sister, quickly noticing that Isobel was not her outgoing self. She was all sweaty and nervous.
“Isobel? Mheegan! What? Are you being serious?” Circe was a little shocked.
“Yes, Circe! Yes, yes!” Mheegan suddenly answered on Isobel’s behalf, sounding like a puppy. If Isobel didn’t have such great control physically, she would have shifted and probably been jumping up and down!
“Yes, what?” Circe almost giggled.
“Circe! What do I do?” Isobel became panicked.
“Well, you can walk over to him, or you can wait for him to come to you, I guess. I don’t know. Mom and dad said they just knew. Do you know?” Circe frowned as amusement danced around in her eyes. Her sister was usually emotional and all that, but now she was completely panicked.
“Yes!” Isobel smacked her hand in front of her mouth, looking big-eyed at her sister. “I found my mate.” Isobel whispered.
“Well, if you aren’t sure, go find mom and dad.” Circe shrugged. “Mom, Dad. Where are you?” Circe mind linked them. “Isobel is freaking out, and she needs you.”
“We are on a date having coffee. Let her come meet us here.” Their mom replied. Circe shoved Isobel in that direction. Isobel could feel that she was being watched the entire time. She walked over to the coffee tent, trying her best to very ladylike slide into the chair when she saw her parents.
If he was a wolf, she had already given away how nervous she was. What was she going to do if he wasn’t a wolf? Why didn’t he claim her immediately?
“What’s up, honey?” Her mom looked worried.
“I found my mate.” Isobel blurted out, not being able to keep it in anymore.
“You WHAT?” Frank said, eyes wide.
“Sir, she is the daughter of the Alpha. That is the absolute worst choice you could make. You will break your mother’s heart!” Trevor whispered and tried to pull Radagast away.
“Trevor, she might be the Alpha’s daughter, but she is also one of the most powerful witches’ daughters. Don’t forget that she is a hybrid.” Radagast bit back. Nobody was going to say anything negative against his mate. How did he approach her?
It had always been easy before. His father arranged all family things, and introduced the intended to him. They were sent to the garden for a walk, and that was that. Now she was sitting talking to her parents, and his father wasn’t there to help him out.
He turned his attention back to the rest of the group, their energy electric with excitement. How would it be to be part of that? What would it feel like to be the center of that? If he could have all of them? That electricity fuelling his magic. He started to smile.
He looked back at the young girl with the silver hair. It would have to start with her. He would have to get his foot in the door with her.
“Oh, honey! That is amazing news! Where is he? Let us meet him!” Melissa beamed at a very frantic Isobel.
“Mom! That is where the problem is. He is watching me. He hasn’t...” Isobel nodded in the direction of the guy walking over to their table.
“Good evening, Sir, Madam. My name is Radagast Silver-fox and I believe that this vision is my mate. I understand she is your daughter and would like your permission to take her for a walk through the festival stalls so we may get to know each other.” Silence suddenly fell. Isobel looked from her mother to her father, back to her mother, then back to her father.
“Nice to meet you Radagast. Isobel, do you agree that he is your mate?” Her mother responded first.
“Yes, mother.” Isobel was too nervous to look up at him. His hand was resting on her shoulder. The warmth of his palm radiated against her skin, stirring all sorts of feelings inside her heart. She looked over to her father.
“Then Isobel, it is your choice and not ours. Would you like to walk with him?” Her father responded.
“Yes, father.” She nodded shyly, smiling, blushing bright red.
“Enjoy the walk you two.” Melissa smiled as she watched her daughter take the hand of her destined mate.
“I will return her safely to your care. My tutor, Trevor, will chaperon to ensure her dignity is protected.”
He gave her parents a nod, taking her by one hand to help her stand up and snaking his other arm around her waist, guiding her out of the tent. She softly shivered at the heat of his hand.
