Nathan’s P.O.V.
“He is getting out of hands, Nathan. He attacked her when she refused to apologize to him. I saw the footage. She apologized immediately when she collided with him at the junction, but it was him who burst at her without any relevant reason.”
I stared at Theo while listening about the incident where Alpha Brooke went physical with one of my female employees, and now Theo told me that it was Summer of all the people.
“Does Alpha Brooke needs any logical reason to attack anyone?” I asked Theo in a sarcastic tone and he scoffed.
“You won’t believe that he accused her of having ulterior motives about you and me and when she retorted, he tried to slap her, but she dodged and refused to submit to him. That’s where things went wrong.” He replied to me in frustrated tone.
As Theo said, Alpha Connor Brooke was really getting out of hands now. He was trying to partner with us on a big project, but his main motive was to thrust his mate-less daughter into my life.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. For some unknown reason, Storm has been restless since Theo told us about the incident. The only thing that triggered him in this whole incident was the name of the employee, the same girl sent by Alpha Drake here.
“Where is she now?” I asked Theo in a calm tone, and slowly opened my eyes. Theo sighed and looked at me with a blank gaze. “I grant her two days leave to heal. She fought with Alpha Brooke until the guards arrived but got injured.” He told me and Storm growled aloud angrily, almost switching control with me.
“Did… did she inform Alpha Hart?” I asked him when I remembered that she was still under Alpha Hart.
“No, Bailey said that she requested not to tell a word about this incident to anyone. She …. She doesn’t want Alpha Drake Hart or Alpha Adam Hart to worry about her.” He replied to me and I breathed in relief.
It’s not like I was scared of anyone let alone Alpha Hart, but a she-wolf from another pack got injured in my company, under my watch. This could be counted as a minor failure of my leadership.
“Ban Alpha Brooke and his pack members entry in any of our premises and in our pack too. Cancel whatever business we have with them and also inform the council and the palace about the whole incident.” I instructed Theo in a calm and serious tone while pulling the laptop towards me.
“It will create a chaos, Nathan.” Theo warned me immediately.
“So what? Alpha Brooke made a mistake by attacking someone under me, and he must pay the price for that.” I replied to him in the same tone while opening the mailbox. I also needed to inform the king personally why I wanted to ban Alpha Brooke.
“It’s company annual celebration this Saturday. Are you coming?” Theo asked me after some time. “Of course. Also, arrange a meeting with this girl, Summer Holt, that night. It’s time to meet her.” I further added without looking at him.
“We owe an apology to her. After what happened, she is intelligent enough to bury this under the rag to keep the harmony between the packs.” He mumbled to himself, but I agreed with him.
Although Summer didn’t have favourable conditions between her and her pack, her future alpha was over-protective towards her. One complaint from her and it could be a problem between us.
Summer’s P.O.V.
“Are you serious?” I shrieked in excitement and almost jumped high on the bed after Adam told me that he wanted to take me to an international expo where he was invited.
“Of course, kiddo. You are the only woman that can be seen by my side apart from my mate.” He answered me in a laughing tone.
“And when are you going to start searching for her?” I questioned him in a serious tone. There was silence from him side and I just rolled my eyes in annoyance and I lay down again.
“I will be there this Saturday morning so that I can take you to buy something to wear for this occasion.” He told me in a calm tone after some time.
Mate was always a sour subject for him. He was already 24 years old but haven’t found his mate yet. I decided not to talk about this anymore.
“Wait…. Saturday…. It’s our company annual party that night.” I exclaimed in panic when I remembered the occasion.
“It’s just a party, Summer. Why are you panicking?” Adam asked me in a confused tone. “I don’t have anything to wear.” I yelled in panic.
“O goddess, Summer…. Stop being so dramatic. I am coming in the morning. I will buy you two dresses.” He replied to me annoyingly, but it made me grin widely again.
If I was going with him for shopping, then, I didn’t need to spend my money.
Yes…
I saved my money again.
I did a happy dance while sitting on the bed. “I know what you are thinking, kiddo. You succeeded in fooling me again.” Adam spat on the other side, and I just giggled lightly.
In front of Adam, I didn’t need to be that brave girl who could face everything on her own.
“Okay… I am hanging up now. I have a meeting to attend now. Rest well, and we will meet Saturday morning.” He said further and I only said okay before hanging up.
I threw myself on the bed again on my back and took a deep breath. After what happened in the company that day, I was glad that I got two days off to heal properly. It’s not like I needed two days, but to keep the façade of being a normal human, I needed to do this.
I thought about how to spend my day today. It was the first day of my leave. I thought about hitting the gym in the evening, but dropped the idea because I was still not completely healed.
It was Alpha Brooke with whom I fought yesterday. Alpha Brooke had a notorious reputation. Although he was an alpha of a strong pack, yet his nasty attitude was the biggest hurdle for the growth of his pack.
No pack in its right mind wanted to do business with them. I learned from Emily that Alpha Brooke came to meet Alpha Grant but couldn’t meet him and poured all his frustration on me. I was lucky that Alpha Grant’s gamma, Bailey Davis rescued me on time or else I would have been dead in the next few seconds.
I knitted my brows in confusion when my phone started ringing again. I immediately picked up the phone and sat down again hurriedly when I saw Beta Theo’s name on the screen. I had saved his number from the last time.
“Go… good afternoon, Beta Theo.” I greeted him hurriedly after picking up the call. “How are your injuries?” He asked me in straight words, his voice calm and composed.
“I am fine now, Beta Theo, thanks for asking.” I replied to him politely, regaining my composure. “About yesterday, we owe you an apology, Summer.” He said further and a small smile crept on my lips.
“That’s not necessary, Beta Theo. I am glad that he didn’t shift or else we would be in deep trouble. The injuries… just some minor scratches and they have already healed.” I replied to him, trying to end this topic.
“You fought well, Summer, and thanks to you for not letting him shift in front of so many humans around you. It would have put us in deep trouble.” He replied to me in a serious tone this time.
I sighed internally because this was exactly my fear at that time. I can’t fight an alpha, but there were so many humans around at that time, and as reckless as that old mutt was, I was sure that he would shift at any time.
"If you want a few more days to recuperate, you can extend your leave. I will inform your superior." he proposed and I immediately shook my head negatively.
"No, I don't need more days, Beta Theo. I am already healed, and... and just need one more day to keep this facade. So many people saw me badly injured. Coming back in one day can make them suspicious." I stated what I had in my mind.
"You are right. Well, I called you today to inform you that you will have a meeting with Alpha Grant after the opening speech in the annual party." he told me, and my heart skipped a beat.
"Meeting with him? But why?" I asked him anxiously. Marie also perked up, and it made me more anxious. I didn't know why I and Marie reacted like this whenever someone mentioned Alpha Grant.
"I don't know the specifics. Maybe he wants to thank you personally?" Beta Theo replied to me in a doubtful tone this time. I gulped hard while blinking hard.
"I did nothing special to get his attention, Beta Theo." I tried to refuse indirectly. "It's not up to you to decide, Summer. Anyways... I will meet you Saturday evening then. Take care of yourself." he hung up before I could even say a word to refuse again.
I slumped my shoulders in defeat while thinking about my meeting to Alpha Grant. It was when I realized that I didn't even know how he looked. I immediately opened the search engine, and put his name to see if the internet had any of his photos.
I frowned in confusion when I saw information about him on the net, his achievements, his wealth and so many things about him, but not a single photo. How it could be?
