❤Emily
“According to the manager, the surveillance footage shows Colin going into the restroom but he doesn't come out. He said there is a back door and that there aren't any cameras on that side," Emily explained. "Now the front shows where they were parked and you can see the passenger side but not the driver's side," she further explained as she glanced around at her siblings and their mates. "You can see Tina go into the shop and then back to the car and that's it," she finished off as she grabbed onto Trevor's hand. She hated watching those tapes. "On camera, there is nothing suspicious but the guy working the till that afternoon said that Tina looked panicked,"
"Oh, Emily," Jewel said as she handed her a pack of tissues.
“Sounds much the same as what we were told. The diner where Warrity had breakfast showed us the footage and he left after he ate. No one looked suspicious or followed him out," Felicity said. "The surveillance they have outside doesn't show the area where he had parked,"
“Alright, so what we know is that Colin, Tina, and Warrity were all taken outside of their packs, but Liam and Daniel had been taken inside of their packs,” Ayden pointed out as he paced around the large sitting room. Although Sasha had postponed the twin's birthday party, all their kids were outside having a ball. Emily squeezed Trevor’s hand as she nervously glanced over at Carl. It was odd seeing him again and to see him look so happy with his wife.
“I have no idea when Daniel went missing,” Sasha whispered.
“I don’t think Liam ever came home from the gym,” Stephan added softly. It was safe to say that everyone was quite upset about the fact that their eldest children had been taken.
“The real question is who and why,” Warren suddenly said as he stood up from his spot next to Felicity. “Is it just us? Or have other children been taken?”
“Good point, we should contact the council and find out,” Felicity agreed as she started taking out her phone from her jacket pocket. “I’ll give Cass a call,” she said as she stood up and left the room.
“Who would do such a thing?” Sasha cried out as she pressed against Emily.
“Don’t worry we’ll find them, all of them,” Ayden said as he stared at his wife with concern. Emily caught Carol-Ann looking at Trevor with curiosity and she smiled to herself. She didn’t blame the other female for being curious. She was curious about her too. Although the situation wasn’t exactly the right time to ask questions. Instead, Emily turned her attention to her upset younger sister.
❤Felicity
“Hey, Cass,”
“Hello Felicity, how are you?” Cass asked as she answered Felicity’s call.
“Not so good, we have a situation over here,” she informed her.
“Oh?”
“Yeah, our eldest children have been taken,” she explained. Felicity could hear Cass breathing heavily on the other side and she frowned as the silence grew. “Cass, are you there?”
“Yeah, yeah, um, who all has gone missing?” she asked carefully. Felicity wasn’t sure what to make of Cass’s tone of voice, but it worried her.
“Colin and Tina, Emily’s twins, um, Sasha’s boy, Daniel, Stephan’s boy, Liam and my son, Warrity,” Felicity informed her.
“And you say they are all firstborn?” Cass asked.
“Yeah,”
“Um, ok…” Cass was hesitant, Felicity could tell but she wasn’t sure why and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to know. “You see the thing is, Felicity…” Cass trailed off and Felicity held her breath waiting for the bad news. “There are many others that have been taken as well. Our kind isn't the only one going missing. Other shifters have also gone missing and have put out a high alert,”
“What!” Felicity screamed, completely outraged by the news. “And you are only telling us now? We could’ve kept our children safe,”
“Felicity, calm down, please,” Cass begged but Felicity wasn’t having any of it. She promptly hung up and went back inside.
“You won’t believe it!” she shouted out, not worried about interrupting anyone’s conversation. “Other children have been taken and even other shifter types! And do you know what else?”
“What?” Warren asked, eager to know.
“Those other shifters put out a high alert and our council didn’t think to let us know,” Felicity said.
❤Sasha
“The council knew about this?” Sasha asked, dazed that this was happening.
“Exactly,” Felicity spat out. “Our council has let us down, big time,” she crossed her arms over her chest and Sasha sighed loudly as she stood up.
“We have to do something,” she whispered.
“And we will,” Ayden hurried to her side, comforting her. She glanced around at the wolves sitting around and she wondered why they had lost contact with each other. It took a disaster like this to bring them together. She could hear their children laughing and having a good time outside. Even they were strangers. How did this happen?
“It won't help to rely on the council,” Warren suddenly announced, and Sasha looked over at her brother, Stephan. She knew what was coming. “We should rally up the army,”
“What good will that do?” Jewel surprised everyone by shouting out. “Why put any more lives in danger? We don’t know who took them, we don’t know what they want, we know nothing!” she was losing it and Sasha quickly broke away from Ayden to rush over to her sister in law. “We can’t just attack!”
“Sshh, it’s ok,” Sasha whispered as she sat down next to Jewel and pulled her into her arms. She caught Stephan’s eye and nodded.
“Jewel is right, we can’t just attack when we don’t know anything,” Stephan said. “We should first get all the details together before we do anything,” he added.
“And how long will that take?” Felicity questioned him. Sasha could feel the tensions rising and she knew why they had all drifted apart.
“Felicity, who exactly do you want the army to attack?” Stephan asked, silencing Felicity. “Exactly, we don’t know anything,”
“Will the council be honest with what they know?” Carl asked. Sasha gazed over at the male who had once been her brother in law. The older wolf looked tired and she knew that he too must be worried sick about his kids.
“Only one way to find out,” Felicity said as she stormed out of the room. “Come on Warren!” they all heard her shout out. Warren rolled his eyes before rushing after her.
“All we can do now is wait,” Sasha heard Trevor whisper to Emily. “Hopefully, the council will reveal whatever information they have and hopefully they have some kind of plan,”
“Really? That’s what you are hopeful for?” Carl suddenly snapped. “Oh, wait, it isn’t your kids that are missing,”
“Carl!” Carol-Ann slapped his arm and he shrunk back in his seat.
“Sorry,” he mumbled out.
“My point is, that since they knew about it, maybe they have a plan or something,” Trevor argued.
❤Stephan
Stephan didn’t want to listen to anymore arguing so he left the sitting room and headed outside to check up on the kids. He could see them in and around the swimming pool, having a blast. He tried to pinpoint whose kid belonged to who, but he couldn’t even remember all of his nieces and nephews. Stephan felt bad about it and he hoped that after all of this, that his family could once again be whole.
“Hey,” Stephan turned to see Ayden coming out and he nodded in greeting. After so many years, things still weren’t one hundred percent ok between them. “How are you holding up?”
“I’m worried about my boy,” Stephan admitted. “He has never been away from home and you know, Jewel,”
“Yeah, same with Daniel,” Ayden said, and Stephan took a good look at the wolf he had once envied. It was clear that the years hadn’t been all too kind on Ayden. He was almost completely grey and the lines on his face were a dead giveaway that he wasn’t aging very well. Stephan thought back to his sister and wondered how she felt about her husband now.
“How are things between you and Sasha?” he dared to ask. Even now, he enjoyed poking at him.
“Fine, as usual,” Ayden said with a smug smile. “And what about you and Jewel?” he asked, and Stephan groaned. It wasn’t a secret that things between him and Jewel had been strained lately. They were still very much in love, they were just going through a rough patch. One that they would work through, together, as always.
“Fine,”
“Right, and that’s why my sister is bawling her eyes out?”
“She’s upset,” Stephan pointed out.
“Yeah? Is she upset because it is your fault Liam is gone?” Ayden questioned and Stephan snapped his head toward his brother in law.
“What?”
“I heard her saying to Sasha that you left Liam at the gym instead of bringing him home with you,” Stephan nodded slowly. He guessed that it could very well be his fault. Maybe if he hadn’t left his son alone, he may still be here.
“She’s right,” he whispered.
“No, she’s not. This would’ve happened whether we knew about it or not. When Sasha first told me that Daniel was missing, I thought it was my fault. I thought maybe he had run away from home because I am such a d**k towards him,”
“What?” this was news to Stephan, and he couldn’t believe that Ayden would treat any of his kids that way.
“Daniel is so his mommy’s boy and it gets on my nerves, so I tend to push him away…a lot…anyway, I tried reaching out to him and it was clear to me that my son doesn’t like me. It really made me think about how I had been treating him. I still feel bad and I want him back home more than anything,” Ayden looked sad and Stephan reached out and squeezed his shoulder in comfort. “I don’t even know him, Stephan,” Ayden started to cry softly, and Stephan glanced around, unsure of what he should do. Stephan had no problem comforting his sisters, his kids, or his wife but comforting Ayden was not an easy task.
“Hey, it’s ok, we’ll find him and then you can make it right,” Stephan whispered. Ayden wiped his eyes and nodded. “You will get to fix it,”
“Yeah, thanks,”
“Anytime,” Stephan said as he gave his shoulder one more squeeze.
❤Carl
“Why did you do that?” Carol-Ann whispered as she leaned closer to Carl. He glanced over at Emily and Trevor and sighed. How could he possibly admit that he felt jealous? Not because Trevor was with Emily, but because the male wolf was so much more than he ever was or could be. “Do you have regrets?” she asked him, and Carl turned to his wife.
“Not a chance, if you must know,” he took a deep breath. “I was just thinking about how he has everything, the title of Alpha, the big family…”
“And Emily,” she finished off. Carl hated to admit it, but he nodded.
“Emily and I will always love each other, we were, after all, mates, but our ship has sailed. We had our chance and it didn’t work out. Now, she is happy with him and I am happy with you,” he told her as he gazed into her lovely blue eyes. “I have no regrets,” he reassured her as he leaned in and kissed her cheek.
“Good, but damn it, Carl, she is really pretty,” Carol-Ann pointed out and Carl didn’t even bother to look at Emily.
“She is pretty,” he agreed, causing Carol-Ann to glare at him. He chuckled softly as he caressed her cheek with his fingers. “But you are beautiful,”
“Aww!” Carol-Ann cooed out and Carl knew that it wouldn’t be appropriate to make out with her during this time, so he sat back and relaxed. Carol-Ann picked up on his change and smiled softly. “We will find them, you know,”
“I know, it’s just that I’m worried about Colin,” he admitted.
“Why Colin? I thought you would’ve been more concerned about Tina, I know I am,”
“No, Tina is tough as nails, she will fight back, but Colin…” Carl’s voice trailed off as he thought about his son. “I just don’t think Colin would be able to defend himself,”
“Of course, he would,” she argued but Carl wasn’t so sure. He knew his son. Better than anyone.
“Would you like something to drink?” Sasha asked them and Carl nodded, lost in his thoughts. Carol-Ann offered to help and went off with Sasha, leaving Carl to worry about his kids.
