Chapter 4.

Zodiac POV. I am sitting in a cell opposite to Lucas. He was shocked to see me when I was first brought down here. I have not said a word to him. He has tried to apologise, but I have shut him out. The first night I woke up to him groaning and sobbing in pain, clutching his stomach. I know that pain all too well. The pain of betrayal. His chosen mate is f*****g another. I scoffed and turned my back to him. It has been three days since I was brought here against my will. Food is brought to me by my mom and I refuse to eat it. If anything, I just drop it to the floor outside of my cell. Lucas is finally asleep. From another night of feeling his mate f*****g someone else. The door to the prison opens and I catch Alpha Renko Lovelace's scent as he walks inside. He looks at Lucas and nods his head to his beta, who walks to the wall and turns on the hose and begins to hose Lucas down. I ignore his screams as I look anywhere but at the man who is my mate. “Still defiant, I see,” Renko says, and I just click my tongue and stand before I lean against the wall. Looking ahead and he groans before he pinches the bridge of his nose. “If you didn’t want to come home, then why did you come?” He asks and I turn my gaze to him as I push off the wall and walk closer to the bars of my cell. “Who said I came willingly?” I ask, tilting my head to the side as he takes me in. “You weren’t willing to come home. I’m sorry for how it was done, but I’m glad you are here. You are my mate, and the sooner you get that into your thick skull, the better.” He says as Lucas stops screaming and is shivering on the floor of his soaked cell. “You want me to kill him?” I ask, and Renko looks from me to the sopping wet alpha behind him. “Yes, I think it is owed to you after what he did to you. I know he is feeling the pains of betrayal just like you did back then. But before you ask, it is not me she is f*****g. She seems very happy with her true mate,” he says, and I say nothing. I’m not bothered who it is she is f*****g. As long as she is not being taken against her will. No one deserves that. She could f**k every warrior here and I would not be bothered. She could even f**k Renko and again, I wouldn’t be bothered. “He doesn’t deserve my mercy. He didn’t show me any. So no. I won’t kill him. Can I go now, considering that is what I was called here for? I have things I need to do.” I say, looking Renko in his silver eyes. He sighs and looks at me with overwhelming sadness. But he isn’t repulsed by my scars. Now, that is a first. Even Caroline, at first, was scared. But not anymore. She says they make me look badass. c*****e agrees because she has the same scars. I have learnt to love them over the years. They are a part of me and a reminder of what I am doing. When I was little, I was told I would have the scars for the rest of my life because of my age. But there is a way to get rid of them. But I never did. I don’t think I ever will. They are a reminder of what I have endured over the years and I will not change who I am for other people. Until I find that rogue, I will not stop and I will never rest. Maybe when I have found him and killed him. I will look into having the scars reduced, but I want the rogue to look at my face and know exactly who I am before I kill him. “I can’t do that, and you know why. You are my mate and you will be staying in the pack. It is time to be who you were meant to be.” Renko says to me and I just gape at him. He can’t be f*****g serious? He is like mid to late thirties. “How old are you?” I ask him, and he smirks at me. “Thirty-five.” Well s**t, he is eleven years older than I am. Not that it matters. I will not be his, not now, not ever. “I know you are twenty-four Zodiac. Age means nothing to me. The goddess paired us for a reason.” He says, and I scoff at his words. The goddess, yeah, the f*****g moon goddess. “Well, the moon goddess can go and sit on a cactus. She does not control me. She can stick her mate bond up her ass for all I care.” I say and he sighs again and lowers his head, shaking it. “Defiant even to her. Tell me Zodiac, what is your purpose?” He says and I look at him as I walk closer to him and he smirks. “To kill every evil rogue I can find. Specifically, one in particular. So me being here is putting everyone outside of this pack in danger. So let me go.” I say to him and he just looks at me and I can’t read him. “No, you will stay here. Where it is safe.” He says and I throw my hands up in the air before placing both my hands at the back of my neck as I look up at the ceiling. “Fine, you leave me no choice.” I say as I turn to look at him as I shift into C*a*r*n*a*g*e. He looks at me in shock and C*a*r*n*a*g*e whines. Before we burst through the cell door and up the stairs to the hallway that I am familiar with. We bolt outside and run like our tail is on fire. Warriors surround us. We snarl at them and look for a way out. When I catch his scent, we turn our head and see him walking towards us. “No one harms her.” He says. “C*a*r*n*a*g*e, we need to go!” I snap at her and she growls and charges again, leaping over the guards and we run towards the border. The sound of paws gets louder behind us as we gain speed to escape. A howl makes me stop. I skid to a stop and turn to see my mom. “Please baby, don’t do this.” She says as she walks closer to us. C*a*r*n*a*g*e growls in warning. My mom has tears in her eyes as she takes us in. “You are beautiful.” She says as she walks closer. C*a*r*n*a*g*e looks from her to the other wolves who are gaining on us. “C*A*R*N*A*G*E, WE NEED TO GO!” I shout at her and she turns to look at our mom once more before she bolts again as we reach the border. Stepping over the border, we stop and see the wolves can’t enter. The sounds of growls come from behind me. f**k! I turn, and my eye widens seeing three rogues. The smell coming from them has me lowering my stance. “Zodiac!” my mom screams as I launch my attack on the rogues. I take out the one in front, tearing its throat out before turning my attention to the other two. My white fur has streaks of blood. Both rogues attack me from the sides. I leap over them and land before I attack the back leg of one who howls as I drag him back when the other one attacks me from the side. I land on the ground with a snarl. I get back up and charge at the female as I rip into her. My claws rake down her sides. She howls as I clamp my jaws at the back of her neck and shake my head until I hear the snap. I drop her as the male howls in pain. I waste no time as I attack him. My jaws around his throat and bite down, tasting his disgusting blood in my mouth. I rip my head back with a growl, pulling his throat with me. Dropping the skin and fur from my mouth. I walk over to him as I watch him die. I howl in victory before I turn my head and look at the stunned wolves. My mom is sobbing with her hands covering her mouth as Daryl holds her to his chest. He looks proud. I look up at Renko and he is smirking. I shift back and stand before them, all naked and covered in blood. Renko growls, and I smirk at him. Typical male. Doesn’t he get it? I’m no one’s. “Don’t come looking for me again. This is what I am, this is what I do. You want to know why? Ask her.” I say, nodding towards my mom, giving them one last look as I shift back and I’m about to run. When I hear Renko say. “I, alpha Renko Lovelace, alpha to the Silver Claw Pack. Accept you Zodiac Jones as my mate and luna.” I stop still. NO! No, no f*****g no! The bastard, why did he do this? I hate him. I truly f*****g hate him. “Come mate, it is time to be back with our pack.”
