My rebirth gave me the opportunity to make the first decisions in my life that were just for me. Yes, it all started off as making the decision which I thought was best for the pack, but the rest were all for me. I found my independence, and I am not entirely ready to let go of that feeling.
“I don’t know. If you want them, I guess you can demand them, but I don’t know what I want. I’ve never thought about it.” I shrug, speaking honestly for the first time in probably forever. I see the look of shock in my mom’s eyes right before she goes off at me.
“They are your people! How can you not know if you want them?!” She sounds out of breath and clutches her chest like she always does when she gets worked up. I don’t react to it. She always clutches her chest and nothing ever happens.
