Jade’s pov:
Coming to the feeling of sweet pleasurable tingling making me feel alive, I opened my eyes groggily. I was no train wreck but I didn’t exactly feel okay either. I felt drained, and lifting up a hand felt like a real chore.
Alex was tracing patterns with his thumb across the back of my right hand, and I reveled in the feeling.
“Slept well, love?” He asked, a hint of teasing in his voice, though his concern was obvious.
I let out a noncommittal Hmm in the back of my throat.
“Is that a yes?” He chuckled, and didn’t even wince as he did so, even though I knew was injured.
“Where am I?” I didn’t recognize the ceiling or the room where I was.
