CHAPTER ELEVEN. Something Worthwhile.

1748 Words
Amalia stayed with me until dad, Lucas, Becca and Mika came to visit. When everyone left, dad stayed behind. We played scrabble and watched CSI together. I have to say I miss spending time with him and I didn’t want the night to end. But of course I fell asleep so it did. I was discharged from the hospital the morning after and to my surprise the whole neighborhood greeted me went I got home. It was nice until I saw Amalia and Marty together that crushed me. Joking. I’m happy Marty is getting over his soon to be ex wife. I went back to school on Wednesday and tried out for the soccer team and made the team.   Couples that got to together for the pass five days are of course Amalia and Marty, Dad and Clair and Becca and Lucas. Lucas and Becca are basically inseparable. Just being around them makes me gag. When Becca and Lucas are on a date Amalia comes over and we paint each other’s nails and rant about how fake reality tv shows.  Anyway, it’s been also five days since my first encounter with him and I haven’t seen him since. There was so much I wanted to know. Like his name. I want to know how the hell he keeps getting into my room and most importantly, who is he? Although I haven’t seen him, I know he’s there watching, helping and protecting me. I haven’t had a single bad dream since that night in the hospital. And every morning I wake up to small gifts like; sweets and once he left me a book with the most beautiful poetry I’ve ever read. I haven’t told anyone to risk them thinking I have some kind of stalker. Maybe I do but...he’s more like my guardian angel in some way. The Pre-Valentine dance is tomorrow well tonight. I’m not going because no one was asked me to go,  they’re too afraid of Lucas. Lance can’t go with me because he loss the bet, Mika is visiting family in Boston for the weekend and Amalia hates parties without alcohol. I rolled onto my side and sighed. I looked at my alarm clock. It’s twelve in the morning.  I sat up and turned on my lamp. I smiled when I saw a music box on the window seat. I slide out of bed and went over and pick it up. It was beautiful.  It is made from pine wood and had my first name printed on it in pretty lettering. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I gasped when a hand slowly reaches to the lid. He opens it and a ballerina slowly comes out of its hiding place then starts to dance to the soft music.” It’s beautiful, thank you.” “Your welcome.” He said. I could hear an accent but it’s not that noticeable. I closed the music box the slowly put it on the window seat. “Will I ever get to see you?” I asked. “Why would you want to see me?” I leaned back until my body was against his. Even his body was cold.” Are you scared?” I shook my head. “No. If you were going to hurt me you would have a long time ago—“ “I could be waiting for the right opportunity.” He interrupted me.” I could be waiting for you to let your guard is down.” “Well, the joke would be on you...I’m guard has been down for two weeks now.” I pointed out.” You make me feel safe again.”  “You should get some sleep.” He said. “I’m not sleepy plus it’s Saturday.” I informed.” I have a question...and please don’t avoid it.” “Ok....ask.” He said. “How do keep getting into my room?”  “That window. You never close it properly.” He replied.” I always have to close for you while you’re asleep.” “If you close how do you get out and back in again?” I can hear a smile forming.” You said a question.” He took a step closer, molding our bodies together. I closed my eyes briefly, biting my lip.” I—er...go through the window in the attic.” “Do I even want to know how you know how you manag—“ “Not really. No.”  “This is creepy in so many ways.” I sighed. “I can was stop if you really want me to.” He stated. Did I really want him to stop? Yes! It’s creepy and all kinds of wrong but if he stopped won’t the bad dream come back?” No.” He chuckled.” So...tell me Devin...how are you.” I got goosebumps when he said my name. “Now that’s unfair. You know my name, where I live, what I looked like and I know nothing about you. Ok, I know that for a fact that your a stalker.” He laughed. It echoed around the room. So powerful, sensual and filled with happiness.” I prefer calling it admiring from a rather close distance l....sometimes very far.” “Why though?” I asked. “You remind me of my sister...she use to have bad dream all the time and I use sing to her so she can fall asleep again.” “Do you do that with me?” I asked. “No—I stroke your hair while you sleep on my lap.” He answered.” Then before dawn I’ll leave you something to make you smile. You have such a beautiful smile.” I blushed. “Thanks.” I wasn’t such weather to be freaked out or be grateful at this point.” And thanks for everything you have done for me for the pass weeks.”  “It’s was a pleasure to see you smile.”  “Can I see your face?” I questioned. “No.”  “Why not?” I asked, frustratedly. “Why would you want to see the face of a monster?” Monster? I reached for his hand and interlocked our finger. “I don’t feel any claws.” I stated. I kept on holding his hand trying to ignore the coldness. I turned around and ran my hand up his chest. I went on my tiptoes and tried to reach his neck. It was hard, he’s so tall. I yelped when he pulled me inti his arms and further into the darkness. I took the opportunity to feel his face.  I ran my hand along his face. He seems to have a strong jawline with dad and Lucas. He had a bit of a beard though not too much. Stubbles more like. He was fairly big ears but not the kind that would stuck out. His hair felt silky and a little wavy. It stopped at his shoulder. I pushed it over his shoulders. His brows felt thick. Eyelashes were long but not like Mr. Haddish’s probably a tiny bit shorter. His nose bone straight. His lips were soft. His bottom was bigger than the top.” You felt pretty human to me.” “Looks can be deceiving.” “Good to know, I’ll try to remember that when I actually your face.”  “Have you noticed how I’m as cold as ice?” He asked. It’s pretty hard to miss that. “Yeah.” “Yet you say nothing. Have you ever known any humans to be that cold?”  I frowned.” No, if someone is that cold....” I trailed off. He chuckled. “Are you scared?” He asked. I kept quiet. He’s cold. I’ve never seen him out in the daylight or when the lights are on. No it’s just a coincidence.” Are you scared, Devin?” I shook my head slowly. “Think back to you’re first night in this house. How does you remember waking up? Laying down on your pillow or my mouth inches away from neck with you on your knees?” I thought back to that night, I thought that was just a dream.” You ever thought about how I’ve always manage to disappear before the lights turn on—“ “What are you going to say....you’re a vampire?” “Yes! But my point is I’m a monster. I can kill you anytime I wanted and have no regret.” He said,” I don’t want you to see me because I’m a monster. An abomination that prays on the innocent and defenseless.” “Are you going to kill me now?” I asked. He doesn’t answer.” I’m not scared.” “Your heart says different. It’s racing Devin, it’s like music to my ears.”  I swallowed a lump and tried to calm down.” I’m not scared of you, you haven’t given me a reason to be.” “If you want one all you have to do is ask.” He growled.” Ask me. Ask me to hurt you.” “Hurt me.” I said.” Show me you’re the monster you say you are. Prove to me that my life means nothing to you. If you’re going to kill me do it now.” He grabbed hold of the back my neck and jerked my head to the side, exposing my neck. I heart racing went his teeth graze my skin.  “Are you scared, Devin?” “Yes.” I squeezed out. My heart was about to burst out of my chest. He smiled against my neck. “Me too.” He said. He lifted my head and pressed his lips on mine.
